One thing that has never worked on my '68 is the low gasoline light. My gas gauge works, but the low light does not.
Is anyone else's light working? If so, when does it come on?
I have tried replacing the bulb but that's about it.

Mike, should be a green wire wire from the sender that goes to 'G' on the gauge, then a power wire from the ignition, I think blue w/yellow tracer on your car, that goes to '+' terminal, and a brown ground wire to the spade on the gauge body,and a black to the bulb holder. If you have all that then pull the sender out and hold it vertically to simulate an empty tank, if still no light the sender contact is not making it. Verify continuity from the sender plug to your gauge with an ohmmeter. Since at this point you would need a new sender any way take yours apart by removing the 5.5 mm nut at the bottom and carefully pull the tube off the guts. By some observation you'll figure out what makes the contact for the bulb (too difficult to explain in words) There are some VERY thin wires that the contacts slide on, often times this is repairable. If it all goes to hell in a handbasket you were going to have to replace the sender anyway!!
Sometimes I wish it didn't work on my normal. Covering a little less than half the gauge, that thing lights up the night.
It's really not hard to get it to light up. A quick corner with anything less than 3 gallons in the tank ought to do it.
Ok did a little maintenance today: new front hood struts (key on those is to make sure hood is open ALL the way to make struts floppy, then removal is cake), new ebrake boot, paint muff straps with Grey VHT in prep for stock muff reinstallation, and finally I pulled the gas tank sender. Haven't disassembled it yet but the tiny bolt looks kinda crusty so I'll soak in PB before I attempt disassembly.....will report back.
Update: Tried taking the sender apart...did not go well. The 5.5mm nut was pretty much hermetically sealed on the threads, and ended up twisting the threads off the shaft (might have been corroded very thin anyways). Tried soldering shaft back on bottom contact assembly but no dice. New sender and gasket just ordered from Pelican. :D
I'm a little disappointed because I pride myself on being able to MacGyver things pretty well in these types of situations....and I could have messed with this a bit more, but the futility of the situation kicked in. Oh well, at least I figured out how the thing works which is kinda cool.
Update: new sender installed and after some fiddling with the bulb socket, both gauge and low gas light work! Oh sweet victory is mine.
