9113300429 Found

I guess I can now claim legitimate membership in this fine club as I am the new owner of 9113300429. 429 will emerge from 30 years of slumber in a couple of weeks and begin it's journey back to life. Unfortunately it's original engine and tranny are gone, but we figured it's probably worth getting back on the road even if it will always be a bastard child of the fatherland.

I would like to extend a big thanks to Ed M. for all of his help in this entire endeavor. Ed, unfortunately, I am gonna need a lot more consultation before this thing is up and running.

429 started out life in Dallas Texas area before being brought to Virginia in 1976.

From what we can tell, 429 came with the following options:
Sunroof
No A/C
Sport Seat(s) (there is a tilting sport seat mechanism on drivers side and comfort seat on Passenger side
Everything else appears to be standard "S"

The original rear decklid had been removed and a whaletail rear deck added by the Texas owner as were the H-1's

There is rust in all of the usual places, so it's gonna have to go down to bare metal

I love projects . . . everything --- from what got people interested in their cars in the first place, through The Search and The Deal, then, once the car comes home . . . all the things that come up bringing an old Porsche back 'on line' . . . .

Projects are some of the best threads on our site, so put up as many stories and comments and pictures as you can. Can't wait to read more.

The first thing you should do on this restoration project is take the picture you have included with your story, frame it, and put it up on your garage wall.

When you are finished and your S is looking great, many people, mostly non-project people, will ask you why you did it. You'll know that you did it to bring another early 911back to life and for the fun of doing a barn find project. Then show them the picture and stand back and let them oh and ah. (But never bring up costs...even if you do most of the work yourself...these projects are usually for fun and satisfaction for yourself and other true believers...not for financial gain.) Like many on this board I've done several cars like this and the reward when they are done is internal and not easily described. You'll get frustrated at times but hang with it. It will be worth it in the end. Best of luck on your journey.

Thanks for the encouragement...The original color was Silver...It appears to have had one re-spray. I will try and post some pictures as it emerges from it's slumber.
