Gooding auction...

Just returned for Pebble Beach. Had to watch my car (former car) go across the block. It was so much fun seeing it on the big screen in front of all those people. The same stage and screens that the $14.9 million Ferrari crossed the night before.

For reference, to those interested, the car sold for $122,500.00 plus 10%. Thanks to all that have expressed an interest in the car over the last few years. It was a joy to build and gave me the chance to learn so much from the great folks on this board.

Was it this one? There were several others on the block too: a 65, a 69E with 6000 miles on it, a white one and a green one.

I think these auctions are very significant in that they set realistic values to well preserved or restored early cars. I have re-set the value of my car do to these results.

The 1971E was quite unusual. Not only a 6k mile survivor. But originally ordered by a person who told Porsche (NA ?) , he was considering opening a dealership. So it was originally delivered with dealer paint & interior sample books (and i'm sure all other assorted dealer lists for that year). AND was never dealer prepped for delivery . It has some various small things still on car that were normally removed prior to delivery. Car was used sparingly for a few years , then tucked away.

At the nighttime cocktail party , in not the best light. And not opening the doors or f/R lids ....I was at first slightly skeptical. But I took a closer look in daylight , later in the weekend. Pretty amazing . Not as amazing as the under 1000 mi. 1973E survivor. But still very.


I thought the beige 67S coupe would bring a bit more. As it was an impeccable restoration. I did not check parts and pieces for originality.
