That looks like a 901 wheel and if it is alloy rather than steel armatures as you noted, it is valuable.
Reproductions sell for $700-800. Originals ???
There's a like new 420mm wood/aluminum wheel going to auction this weekend in Deutschland. Minimum bid is 9500 Euro.
Thank you for those that shared information. The wheel was in superb shape and suprisingly the owner parted with it at a very reasonable price. For those that I thought might be interested and tried contact by phone, a rare opportunity was missed. It has found a nice home in an early S!
The one in Germany I referenced above sold Saturday for 10,500 Euro.
