Anyone have the knowledge on Loctite?

The screw that attached the shifter shaft to the shift mechanism in my Rennshifter continually loosens, resulting in a vague shift. However, if you tighten in too much it, it stiffens up the whole mechanism.

I'm currently having to check & retighten it every 1 or 2 races. Very annoying.

I thought I would try Loctite - what colour/type should I use? Pretty sure all parts are stainless steel.

Ryan. either blue or red will do the job. I'd probably go with blue in your case as red requires heat to release.

Something like 262 or 242 should do the job. You don't something that strong it won't come apart.

I'd definitely go with "Blue", at least to start. Red is for things you *don't* want to take apart.

I have used red & blue for many applications. I also use Loctite 290 green wicking grade for assembled parts. It comes apart with a little effort, but I never have loose parts. In use it acts a little like a nyloc nut in that it seals and bonds generally just the outer threads.
