Poor car! No rest for what appears to be a well regarded example.

It is odd though, reading the threads and seeing the car get passed around so much. I guess it's just perspective--I tend to hold on to something for a very long time, while good friends of mine can't own a nice car longer than a few months before they need something different.

Maybe the new owner will settle into a nice long routine of ownership with it and give this forum an update on the car.

I can also totally appreciate mike66's sentiments --- about selling something when it gets to be more of a responsibility -- a 'burden' --- than a pleasure. It's no fun using something that you're afraid to hurt

I think that The 400 lb Gorilla in the room is the escalating values. I don't remember any pricing at Fantasy Junction, but I believe the 2-Shores asking as ~$90k --- and that was 4 years ago. And we've all seen the auction results/asking prices/etc since --- and not just for Porsches. As the prices climb, the kinds of people who buy these cars --- and why they buy them, how they use them . . . . change

I remember, as a kid, going to one of our local Pomona Swap Meets (George Cross & Sons), back in '70s?, heading for the entry gate, walking through the parking lot, passing by this dusty-beat old 356 Coupe, like a beige-kinda color . . . had this funny-looking vented skirt with a couple bazooka pipes poking through it. I looked on the lid, expecting to read '1600' or 'SC' or something . . .

Those kinds o' cars don't show up in parking lots, any more . . . along with lots of others

So, when I read about a car like this, a 'lucky' car, going overseas, then getting sold 'cause it was a 'burden' . . . I wonder if I'll ever see that car again

Hopefully no one has broken the 'Gramps' oath, but I fear that his original paint has most likely been desecrated.:(
