Value/info needed on old "Made in Italy" hub

I got this steering wheel hub from a friend that had it in his stash of old spare parts. I thought it would fit my Momo Prototipo (newer dished version) but the spacing for the attachment screws on the hub are a little farther apart/out than the holes on my steering wheel so I cannot use it for my application. It says “Made in Italy” on it and has a “0178” number cast next to that. On the other end of the hub it has a “3640” number. It is cast aluminum and has decent original black crackle paint on the outside of it. It measures 9 centimeters long, (distortion in photo makes measurement look longer.) This unit came out of an old 911 a while ago… Since it does not fit my Momo wheel, I am wondering who made it (Nardi?) and what application it is for. Since I don’t have a use for it, I’d be willing to sell it to a fellow registry member but I would like to establish a fare market value before listing it. Ether that or find a cool old wheel that will fit it and use it myself. Thanks for the help guys, I do appreciate it!

First question I'd ask is 'whatzit fit?' . . .

If the splines fit you can make an adapter to fit between the hub and your wheel. I did just that as I could only get an Alfa hub at the time. It puts the wheel about .5 inch closer to me but that is ok. It does look like it has a chunk missing. The Porsche ones are getting pretty expensive so the spacer might be a cheaper way to use it.

Looks like a Nardi hub for a pre-74 911 to me. Member hezaputz (David) or Andy Boyle can confirm. I'm the worst person to ask about value because I think everything is worth more than it probably is... but I'll take a shot at it and say it's worth $175-300

Love your green S. :) And Mark, same goes for your back dated car. I really enjoyed reading about it more in the last issue of the Esses. David, that’s a good idea about an adaptor… I’ll have to give it some thought. There are no chunks missing from the hub. There is a hole machined in one end (looks factory made) which I assume is for horn wiring or something. The photos distorted it a little but there is no damage to the hub at all. Just some very minor paint chipped off in a couple small spots at the bottom edge of the base end. My friend told me it came off an early 911 and I matched up the splines with the original OEM wheel that came in my ’69 E and they look to be a match. I’ll take my Prototipo and newish/later momo hub out of my car this coming weekend and make sure it fits the early steering column…

I have a NOS version of the exact same hub pictured, still in its original box. It is a Nardi/Personal steering wheel >74 911. 100% sure. I agree with Marks estimate on value, but I think it's more toward the lower end of the range.

A Momo 230 solid hub of that vintage has been on ebay for a few months at $600 with no takers. So you know that pricing is out of this world.

It's NOT out of this world. I've seen them sell for a lot more. A LOT more. Some almost correct repros are close to $500. People are just watching every penny right now
