Hi Folks
Installing new 3 point seat belts (sierra Madre). The bolts that hold the lap belt that came with kit do not fit the above the tunnel two holes. Mine were missing. Anyone know the bolt size for these bolts, . I called pelican parts but the PET catalogue does not show, and they do not know what size. They do show an eye bolt but the new belt are held with only a bolt
Any help??

The original eye bolts for the lap belts are 7/16 by 20. The shoulder mount bolt is M8 X 1.25.Quote:

The original bolts in 66 were the cream colored ones that morphed into the black ones later in the year. The modern replacement is the steel one. The one pictured is longer that it needs to be, though.

The original lap belt mounting location for those plastic coated eye bolts was and is considered unacceptable by SCCA tech, and, I suspect outside current DOT belt mounting standards. The reason being that the location allows the lap belt to ride across the lower abdomen rather than at an angle across the pelvic bones. A binder across the lower abdomen as in this mounting position can result in lacerated intestines and liver as well as spinal injuries in a frontal impact. Do NOT use those old high mounting positions...relocate the eye bolts onto the floor allowing a safer angle and placing the belt across your hips. Any of the racing supply houses will sell the mounting plates with the proper (DOT) 7/16 threads for relocation.

Would you agree that using the existing mounting points is still better than not having 3 point belts at all? Buy the way, we have the bolts and plates in stock (shameless self-promotion)
