Earliest date on the rims ?
4.5 Fuchs are undated as far as I have seen. I also have seen some with no raised part numbers. I have had some with ink stamps only but none with an actual date.
the ink stamps may fade away or washed away with time so the only way to be sure you have a genuine wheel is to weigh it. A real 4.5 x 15 Fuchs weighs approx 10.6lbs. (I just weighed 2 I have here to be sure) replicas are cast and are significantly heavier, approx 14+lbs
That means that ther is no stamp or
Cast dates on 4,5 just ink stamps.
But when did they start whid the punched dates.
the earliest I have seen were 5.5 x 15 with 1968 dates 3/68
I always say 4.5s usually don't have dates or part numbers on them. I just checked 24 we have in the shop right now and 6 have part numbers (more than I would guess) and no dates.....Unless they were using some code.....A B C etc like on some other parts. I'll have to go back through some work orders to make sure but I thought that I saw some dates on 4.5s. The earliest date I have now on another wheel is 7/67 on a R wheel. There may be some earlier, I just don't compare dates that often. Maybe they started for the 68MY? I'll do some digging when I get a chance.
