1969 Brake Backing Plate Finish?

I have owned 3 69's and two had black brake backing plates while one actually had blue. I am assuming the blue was not factory but I am not certain on the black. Can anyone definitively say if the brake backing plates in 1969 were black or CAD plated in 1969?

All the 69ers I've seen are black.

When I removed the black paint off mine during the resto, I noticed that they still had some cad plating under the black paint.

Thanks Tony. Could it have been Cad plated before paint from the factory or something that was done by a previous owner?

They were plated, not painted, originally. This is my opinion based on photos of very low mile original cars

I think for a 69 they were plated and then painted, but it may be a Porsche V Karmann thing, and it looks like they stopped the practice in 70 cars
