911e Side-Skirts?

I'm looking at a 1970 911e which has some interesting bodywork - other than the impact bumpers and the 930 flares, it has some fiberglass side-skirts which I have not seen before - are these some sort of replica of a racecar Porsche? Are they home-brew or were they popular back in the day?

Those are Slant nose side skirts available in kit form. Nothing rare.

Sometimes they are also referred to as "boxed rockers".

I used to call them "lower rust containers". If this is a car you are considering purchasing and restoring to original, these may be covering decaying rockers.

Thanks for the replies! Yes, this is a car I'm looking to purchase but not with a view to restoration any time soon, I'd just want to drive it as is. I went to take a quick look last night but am not familiar with all the common rust spots. I did notice that the floorpan was pretty heavily corroded when I lifted up the floor carpet and sound deadening material.

Also - what's the origin of the center console, please:

Judging by the rest of the interior its probably all custom made, should be a real joy when you need to get to the shifter bushings!

Would it be possible to "backdate" the car to it's original style of bumpers AND retain the steel wide 930 fenders? Thankyou!

Absolutely. Anything is possible with a good body guy. Inspect the front fenders and latch panel to see how the conversion was done. If its got the original latch panel you will have less work to do. Also look to see if the original long hood fenders with the horn grill cutouts are still there under the mods, you never know.

I think the backdating will not be cheap....
