Wondering if the color of my fan housing means anything,
or tells a story of internals.
I had a 2.7 that was green, My 68 2.0 is black.
Currently working on a 73 2.4 with cis that is red.

For a while red = S, green = E, yellow = T, black painted over yellow = 1973.5 T with CIS instead of MFI.
2.7 CIS cars were all green as I understand - not sure about the Carrera 2.7- maybe red? SC is black?
Sounds like you're wondering whether your '73 T has an 'S' engine.
The best (and still not 100% accurate) way to determine this is to look @ the engine serial number. For a '73 S engine, it should begin with 633XXXX. You'll find this number to the rigt of the fan housing at the base, on the vertical part of the casting.
Of course with rebuilds etc over the years, it's entirely possible that your shroud was swapped out for a red one. 73.5 CIS engines did not have a red shroud.
Cheers!
I did notice my engine number is 6134461 with engine code 911/91, surprised to find the Carrera chain tensioner upgrade.
Your numbers confirm a '73 2.4 CIS T engine. Your shroud must've been swapped at some point.
It's great that you've got the chain tensioner update. While some people here don't like the appearance of the extra oil supply lines, they do provide an extra bit of protection against collapse.

The '74-75 Carrera 2.7 MFI models and the '76 Carrera 2.7 MFI Sondermodell were all built with the RS-spec 911/83 engine and had red shrouds.
