911R Rally Maroc 1968
It might be the angle, but it appears that the rear window is missing on the last shot of the 911R from the '68 Maroc. Anyone else see that?
The image is just very over-exposed. Notice how the dark writing just below it has almost disappeared.
There's no window. No seal, no hint of a transition between metal and window at the top of the frame where the vents are. No straps to keep it in (could have been the reason it is missing).
Sorry, I thought we were talking about the rear quarter window. Didnt even notice the rear glass. Forest for the trees... =)
There have been a few efforts to get a historic rally series going here in the States, but nothing has happened. There's another effort going now and the interest seems to be better. One of the major problems is that many of the cars have become quite valuable and nobody wants to go out and beat the sh!t out of their car on a typical punishing gravel stage (it's not if your car will get damaged, it's how damaged it will become  ). That's why most historic rallies in Europe are on tarmac. But we really don't have tarmac rallies in the US (OK, there's a handful of exceptions). And any event woud have to shirt-tail onto a regular rally being run for logistical reasons. So that's a big problem. The other issue is we simply don't have the cars over here. Sure, there are examples of many of the classic rally cars scattered around the country but most of those are in collections, not to be driven. Not sure what the answer is but I'm ready to go if some sort of legitimate event happens!

Love that first picture Bryce. That little kid must have been in 2nd heaven 'pushing' the race car. And the VW transporter with Porsche logo on the door, very cool!
