the short answer is 'no'. they were strictly meant for internal use by the sales staff. I'm sure if someone was motivated & knew somebody in sales...
well, you get the idea. I doubt they were produced any time except during the model year. the secondary market is your only option. I've already turned down a couple of offers that some might find alarming :eek:
for those not aware... examples of how the clear overlay would be combined with color samples to give the potential customer a better idea of how the car would look.
Those beautiful "Dealer Upholstery samplers" are ultra ultra rare and most I saw only ones or twice for sale on secondary markets…in 10 years. They are today the most expensive literature items one can own, among some 911R manuals (sold for 8k Euro) and other competition cars items. The reason is not only their make but their ultimate rarity. They hardly show up for sale or then by an owner unaware by its importance, rarity and value.
They existed for each year MY 65-69 and were for combined US/Row market…but from 1970-1973 the US version was made as a piece of its own while RoW had own folders w black/blue/red covers.
The 1970-1973 US version were kept in luxurious black vinyl binder were dealers would replace each year the new version (and probably threw away the old ones…hence its so rare). You would keep the black binder and replace its content with the new Model Year version, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974 etc. Up to the end of the 70ies the overall design did not change at all. In a funny way while items for clients (color charts, brochures etc.) were often kept long after they were out of print, many dealer items were thrown away and replaced quickly by new ones. But those dealer items were often much more complete and exclusive than clients items…they never were meant for the public and were never sold or given away.
BTW, a few years ago one 1973 was for sale in another forum and the seller was unaware that this items value is not $300 but at least 20times its advertised price. I watched how it got sold to a happy new owner…
I know one of the 70-73 sampler is in the UK, at least two are in the US and two went off in an auction in Germany.
Plus mine in Switzerland, I own the 1971 version and in 10 years of collecting, I never ever saw another 1971 one for sale. imo Its the most beautiful literature piece ever produced, in both content and design.
Its huge in its size and all samplers are real, both colors and fabrics.
Happy to have it and I salute the guy which sold it to me years ago, he knows its in good hands.

The ones I listed I know plus the one in Bavaria now, maybe one of two sold in 2012.
I got mine at the La lit show circa 2000 . I paid 10.00 for it. It is the 1970 color chart. The condition is not great but considering the price it's fine.

I have enjoyed this thread and wondered if this brochure might be of interest?
A VW-PORSCHE factory publication "Basic Equipment for Workshops" dated January 1971 (English Language). Twenty-five pages detailing all the necessary equipment, the price (in DM) and the recommended supplier that was required to become a 1*, 2* or 3* Porsche "partner" in the early 70s.
Seven parts: I. Customer Literature, II. VW-PORSCHE identification Media (Signage), III. VW-PORSCHE Work Clothing, IV. Porsche Special Tools, V. VW Special Tools, VI. Commercially Available Tools, VII. General Workshop Equipment.
Working in motorsport/automotive industry (currently a director-role with a well known Formula One team and formerly a Director of Lotus Engineering and a Group Director Lotus Cars), the nature of this brochure's contents appealed to me.
Particularly as I have a U.K. R.H.D. 1972 (MY 73) 911 coupe - 23rd year of ownership.
