What Did You Do to Your 911 Today?

I gave it a good run solo today in the canyons. Ran strong the whole way but on the way back sounded "funny" like it was running on 5 cylinders. There were no unusual sounds before this, no cloud of smoke/fluid afterwards, and it seems smooth at idle but I can feel a bit more vibration in the midrange and it seems off song. Thinking it is ignition related as it doesn't appear/sound to be a leak between the header and head or broken headstud. Hoping it isn't one of those things or a broken valve spring. Going to try to pull plugs one at a time if it is still acting up next time. Hoping some new plugs or wires will solve it. Distributor cap and rotor look pretty good.

Installed side and front deco decals on my Ossi Blue SWB project. I've done this several times before on other projects but always with black decals. I've never used silver decals before. Still trying to decide if silver is too "blingly".

Porsche used this combination on the GT3RS.

As far as bling goes you've got to step it up a bit to out-do this. ;)

Yes...that is a real '68 Z28 Camaro in the background. (I didn't realize it was in the picture until I saw it.)

I bought this old Z28 about 15 years ago as an unfinished restoration project. The previous owner had dissembled it with the goal of restoring it but it never happened. It sat dissembled in his garage for 10+ years. I looked at it with a friend who thought "it was too much work" to bring it back. I decided to undertake the project. Good decision? I'm not sure...it took a long time and was a lot of work because I didn't dissemble it (and didn't' know what parts when where.)...but fortunately most of the parts were there. m

I'm a V8 guy as well as a Porsche guy. In 1968 Camaro Z28 cars won both the SCCA Trans Am Championship and the NHRA Drag Racing Championship. With a history like that how could I not bring this car back? (How many old American V8 cars have a tach with an 7,000 rpm redline? So...off and on over several years...while I was still racing a late model SCCA Camaro and running and old SCCA racer '73S in Vintage racing I bought this '68 Z28 and began to resurrect it.

I'm happy with how it turned out. Except for paint, all done at home in my garage...and maybe surprisingly my old Porsches seem to like it's company. Other than my '73S I don't have a car with a factory redline above 7,000 rpm. But this old Camaro...built by Chevrolet to win in Trans Am racing has a 7,000 redline...and it's a push-rod V8. Pretty amazing! B.T.W. I've pushed it up there a few times and the funny thing...is that it seems to want to reve even higher. Go figure.

Bottom line. give me your thoughts on whether you think the silver is "too bllingy"...but also don't rule out an old 'Z28 Camaro with a 7,000 rpm plus redline.

The 302 was a screamer. British Green? My 65 "built" 327 would blow past 7,000 no problem. Did it many times. One of my favorite engines (next to the DZ 4"x3"!).;)

I think silver and blue is one of the best color combinations out there. Especially when your wheels are silver and trim silver and mirror silver, etc. Silver stripes will look better than black. I try to keep a car as at most 2 colors (other than the black tires). If you blacked-out all the trim then the black stripe would look better.

I DROVE mine! ... 42deg today in lower Michigan. Car ran great! It was the first time I actually took it farther than "around the block". Did about 15 miles today. Needs new tires, but other than that, it ran flawlessly. :)

Thanks for your input on the silver/blue combination. Regarding the '68 Z28. Yes it's a real '68 Z28 and yes its got a 302 V8 and yes it does scream. Sort of like an early 911S it just comes alive above 5,000 rpm....and races on to 7,000 rpm+. Pretty cool for an old small block V8.

The two pics show how it was when I found it and how I got it back to reality after a few years of work. It was a drag race car but fortunately the body wasn't altered or rusted and most of the parts were there even though the previous owner had dissembled it and lost interest.

Sorry to hear of problems with your white car. Here's hoping it's not something major.
