Its No Hogwash. His F-1 cars were crap and he had no luck. Check his achievements in F-1 vs sports prototype cars.
By 1968/69 he was a winner with Porsche sports prototypes but Siffert never had a good F-1 team neither a good F-1 car, despite his immense driver talent.
In his last F-1 season of 1971 and after winning finally at Zeltweg, in a french interview he was quoted that he felt confident with his upcoming F-1 car for 1972 and he knew he then could succeed. Two months later he would be dead while driving a F-1 car, that is.
