Seller's Description (compiled by George Mihalko)
Per an email dated November 25, 2008 from Porsche AG in Germany, the 1973 Porsche 911S Coupe VIN 9113301317 (one of only 1430 MY 1973 Coupes built) was invoiced on June 1, 1973 to the Columbus, OH Porsche dealer (most likely Capital Imported Cars). Per the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche Cars North America, the car is numbers-matching and was equipped with the following options: US Equipment; Koni Shocks instead of Boge; Sport Seats – L/R; Manual Antenna & Noise Suppression; Tinted Glass All Around; Power Windows; Michelin Tires.
The next known location of the car was in New Mexico (Santa Fe/Carrizozo) owned by John T. Armstrong, who was a Porsche S Registry member. Pat Sullivan, the next owner, told me that John had owned the car for a very long time.
My friend, Patrick Sullivan of Granbury, TX bought the car with 85,630 miles on July 23, 2002, from John T. Armstrong. Pat had the engine rebuilt including the fuel injection pump by Gus, and also had the car repainted in its original ultra-rare color, Royal Purple, also known as Lilac (Paint Code 69).
Current owner, George Mihalko of Reno, NV purchased the car with 87,700 miles from Pat Sullivan on October 8, 2008, and drove it home 1,700 miles from Granbury, TX to Incline Village, NV. George is an over 25 year member of PCA as well as a member of S Registry, 356 Club, 356 Registry, HSR and NASA. George also worked for Porsche Cars North America when they were headquartered in Reno, NV.
WORK DONE / IMPROVEMENTS / ADDITIONS WHILE OWNED BY GEORGE MIHALKO
George’s objective was to maintain the car in very original condition with just the right balance of patina, restoration, enhancements, drivability, reliability and esthetics. With this in mind, the following work was performed by some of the best service providers for long-hood Porsches in Southern California as well as George himself:
Approximately $5000 of mechanical fine-tuning by SCOTT’S INDEPENDENT of Anaheim, CA.
Interior redone by TONY GARCIA of AUTOBAHN INTERIORS of San Diego, CA, including Sport Seats recovered in leather, Dash recovered, new Headliner and new Carpet. Rare OE Left Interior Door Pull sourced out of England.
ZUFFENHAUS 380mm RS Steering Wheel with Extended Hub and Hockey Puck Horn Button.
Short Shifter with Custom Shifter Extension.
SSI Heat Exchangers.
Rare 28–Row Brass Front Oil Cooler added.
Powder coated date-matched Koni Struts.

Unfortunately, exact early history is not known on this specific 911. What is known is that by 2004 the car received a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration by a marque expert as is evident by the quality and extent of the restoration. While no documentation is present, it is obvious through inspection that all of the little nuances that make a restoration great on one of these cars are present. Everything from the correct undercoating color, cadmium plated hardware and many little items that add up to exactness that only a professional could understand and portray in his craftsmanship. By 2006 the car was traded to Motor Classic and Competition Corp. in Connecticut where it stayed a short time before finding a new home with a long time collector in California. The car was under his care until late 2014. There, it was commonly stored and cared for by the experts at Fast Cars Ltd. along with TLG Porsche of North Hollywood, California. A few service receipts are present for regular service during this 10-year ownership. One of which is a $4,100 receipt for a reseal and fuel injection rebuild that took place in April of 2014 bringing the car totally up to date. Since the restoration, there has been approximately 2,000 miles of use and enjoyment, but not without being well kept.
Today, the car shows well and the restoration has held up nicely with only a few blemishes. Cosmetically it is straight down the sides with excellent panel fitment, the hood and doors fit exactly as they should with excellent gaps. The paint is smooth with a deep luster and matches everywhere never having been spotted or touched up since the restoration. The glass is all in excellent condition and the windshield is brand new. The rubber seals throughout are also newer and in excellent condition. The wheels are beautifully restored deep-six Fuchs, wrapped in supple rubber. One other nice feature fitted on the exterior is the correct accessory fog lamps. Upon entering the interior it is apparent that the quality of work is continued from the exterior. The carpet is the correct type and fitting well to the interior panels and very tight. The seats are nicely finished as are the seat mechanics and rails. The steering wheel is the correct and original one, and in excellent condition as well. The gauges are presented excellently and operating as they should.
There is no doubt that this is an opportunity for the serious collector looking to acquire a great 911 S. Complete with Jack, spare, some documentation, manual and Porsche COA.

Auction Description:
This desirable early 1969 911 S Targa is finished in Silver metallic with black leatherette upholstery. It was delivered new to Max Moritz of Autohaus in Germany, and was equipped with several important extras, such as tinted windows, heated rear window, and special paintwork (Silver metallic). The car's original specification is shown in its certificate of authenticity from Porsche, included in the car's paperwork file.
Upon completion in Germany in 1969, the car then moved to Georgia, USA in 1971 with its original owner and remained in the USA. The history file confirms it passed in 1980 to its second owner in Tennessee, USA. The car was then repatriated to Europe, and has from then on been in the hands of only its third custodian since 1969.
This matching numbers example has since been treated to a re-spray in its original Silver Metallic, at which time the seals were also replaced. The car also wears its original period black leatherette interior upholstery, which has been exceptionally well preserved and presents very nicely.
The 2.0 engine was also rebuilt in 2014, with new clutch and flywheel fitted, and also has a new battery. Since the work on the engine was carried out, the car has covered merely 1000km. The car is complete with tools and jacks, and original radio; carpets, door panels, pockets and Targa top are in excellent condition, as well as the dash and the correct speaker grill pattern.
The body is in excellent condition: panels are straight and have correct gaps. The 15 inch Fuchs alloy wheels (including a spare) are in good shape and currently wear a nice set of Michelin tyres. Sold with Belgian registration documents and Belgian technical control, this car is now ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
