A timely bump as we have the HSR Walter Mitty up at Road Atlanta this weekend. Skipped school yesterday with a couple of S Registry guys and we headed up to the track.
Paddock parking and sleeping arrangements courtesy of Michael Eberhardt, of Vintage Seats fame. Some tough luck with one of his cars yesterday (mechanical) and weather wasn't looking promising this morning when I left. Hopefully rest of weekend is as memorable as yesterday though. Spent some quality time with the ever gracious and story laden Franz Blam. He has seen it all and has an awesome recall ability from the golden era of motorsports--there's hardly a series or big name he hasn't had personal experience with going back into the late 60s.
The Can Am tribute race is always a highlight. Sounds that stay with you long after the event has passed. Even saw the Sandeman 917 on track... one of these beasts at full song is becoming more and more rare as the years go by. Makes you appreciate those that put on the show for the dreamers... that's the Mitty for you!

This past Saturday was spent on a beautiful drive up to Highlands, NC and back. In this uniquely situated town, I met up with a few Early S Registry members from Knoxville for the 6th Annual Highlands Motoring Festival. Conspicuously missing on my round trip was our friend Pat who had to cancel at the last minute.
At 125 miles one way, Highlands is the perfect distance from Atlanta for a quick getaway. It sits at 4118', so it's the second highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi. The weather is anywhere from 8-10 degrees cooler year round compared to the bigger cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Knoxville.
We didn't know what to expect turnout wise for the event, but it ended up being a perfect excuse just to get together and catch up in this high spot between Atlanta and Knoxville. This year the featured marque was Porsche, and there were probably 25 Porsches total. The event had a nice small town feel to it. I met a few new faces in the early car community as well.
The car ran flawlessly, registering 89,300 miles at trip's end. I was curious how the MFI would do with the elevation change, envisioning that old barometric compensating cell on the pump causing running issues. But the system performed beautifully!

Much of the drive for the last 10 miles or so on NC 106 is 3rd gear twisties as you climb onto the shoulder of the Highlands plateau. Just those 10 miles were worth the 250 mile roundtrip.

After my recent purchase, the Aussie cousin to your car well at least in colour anyway but certainly not condition, I re read your thread from start to finish...think you going to get more than one request for some specific photos:D
I can also confirm that the seat rail hex screws are indeed black in my car too so your not on your own.
