I just got a sms from the driver,....the very expensive olins schock absorbers was gone bad, and the car was now a pig to drive.
the car has gone 3 monte carlos with no problems what so ever until now.

The Brack #87 looks very familiar!!

Jens just forwarded me the above photo of car #87, the BRACK car. That's my car!!! I bought it in 2002. Going through a many year restoration. Almost ready for paint. Mr. Brack passed away years ago, but I have been it touch with his daughter for many years. This was quite a famous car. She is writing a book on her dad's rally years. She sent me all the results of several years of racing with this car. 5 major victories, many top 5's. It entered 55 major European rallies. Yes, it was beat and left for dead. BUT, it has no rust, so bringing it back was not as bad as some. I even have the Original German title for the car. (Brief) I contacted the original owner of the car, and he sold it to Mr Brack after he owned it for 2 years. It went into Rally life soon after.
The car was built by Manfred Hero. I guess he was a well know Rally car builder in Germany. This is RS # 987.
If anyone has other pictures on this car,please let me know. I have some,but never saw this one. That was the 1978 Monte Carlo Rally. Porsche won, BIG upset. This car finished 57th overall out of over 350 cars. Many factory backed. RS # 987 finished 1st in class for a private German team. I have a photo of it on a German magazine cover after the rally.
