The green tape was for having some dew claws removed; the front one was a claw that he'd already ripped --- pretty-busy Guy. The blue is for an IV (I think). This was in the garage, coming home from the Vet . . . bit more subdued than usual

I love your dog pictures!!! So how old was he when you had the dew claws removed? My boy the rear have been removed. But the front ones are plenty sharp. I have to watch during bath time. I guess I need to do some trimming.Quote:

This is one of those topics that can take over this site. I grew up with dogs, was without one for decades . . . then, brought one back into my life . . .
. . . 'for the kids'
Now? . . . they're a passion. Right up there all my others
The Vet brought up the issue w/ the dew claws. One had already been ripped loose by then, so --- when she suggested that the rest should go, as well . . . I thought fine. Little Guy was less than a year old, then, so --- it was easy . . . for both of us
As for teaching any dog any thing . . . that's the part about finding out what your dog 'is.' Mine 's a natural retriever, meaning . . .
. . . throw anything around him ---- absolutely anything . . . . and he's after it . . . without hesitation or even thinking about it. Can't help himself
It's how I picked him. Pulled him out a box of 6 others. Set him on the floor, whimpering, not sure about what was going on. Then? I rolled a ball --- and he was gone. Even at 8 weeks . . . just couldn't help himself
He's 12, now . . . and we still play. We're just a bit more careful . . . = walk/stretch, warm-up, play, cool-down, walk/stretch, groom, water + food . . .
. . . + lotsa 'scooches'
Never spent a day outside. Always lived inside. I have rules and he has a nice bed. Still, two walks a day --- about 2.5 hours. Good food. And lotsa hikes, trails, climbs. Also shopping malls. (Loves crowds --- especially at Christmas) And peoples houses. And car trips. Puts up w/ my BMW, but . . . I need to get him a proper truck, again. Great companion
