The smell of fresh paint wasn't quite as apparent as last year. ;)
Eyes wide open in that auction.

RM/Sotheby's did alright. $70,000,000 and around 90% sale through. But they weren't selling baubles and trinkets either.;)

Garage Find!
Stored for over 20 years!
Mostly Original Paint
Fuchs Wheels
Sport Seats
Mechanical Rebuild
Certificate of Authenticity
This early long hood Porsche is a true “Garage Find”. It still wears most of its original light Ivory exterior paint. The body is straight and virtually rust free with its original trim and decals still affixed to the exterior of the car. The black interior is again, mostly all original and benefits from a new recovered set of Porsche style Sports seats. This car was not abused, the speedometer displays a little over 74,000 miles, the interior shows the right amount of wear; minor crazing on the shift knob, slight wear on the door panels and some fading on square weave carpeting. The interior also sports an aftermarket leather wrapped steering wheel and a working period correct AM/FM radio. Tires are new and the car’s 2.2 litre flat six has had a recent mechanical service. This early 911 is ready for some casual country motoring or some spirited club driving. A car is original only once. This 911 is a real survivor and has just the right amount of patina that it tells a story, it has a soul and a spirit, something perhaps a true Porsche-phile can appreciate.
Probably the cars were not as great as they descibed
Always a cynic among us. 😉
You mean an auction house would not be totally honest? I'm shocked. Just shocked.

Sportomatics are coming out of the woodwork . . . "five-arm wheels"(?), lots of red flags, over ambitious estimate.

That estimate is insane.

Auction Description:
According to its Porsche letter of origin dated 3rd February 2015, this 911T was manufactured in July 1972 and was subsequently exported to Japan, where it remained until being sold to England in 2016. The car is a matching numbers example and, as an export model, retains the more desirable 140 bhp engine. Beautifully presented in its original livery of light ivory with black interior, the car is equipped with a 911S front spoiler, tinted windows, leather steering wheel, and sits on 15 inch Fuchs wheels. Interestingly, as a 1972 car, it is one of the few 911Ts to be fitted with an external oil filler cap. The car has just received a major service by a Porsche Main Agent, and has new TÜV certification to 2019. Indeed a classic and sought after Porsche 911 and as such not to be missed.
