Show your ride...

Here are a few photos of the '71 Targa that I took today. It is getting closer to where I want it to be but a number of small things remain to do, like lowering the ride height, getting correct seat belts, etc. You guys know the drill. :D

I am sure some of you will remember the saga of the 2.2L rebuild. It was taking so long to get the case back that I started looking for another motor to put in the car so we could at least drive it this summer. Well a good friend and fellow S Registry member came to the rescue and 'loaned' me one of his motors.

The motor is from a project car he bought several years ago, a '73S Viper Green coupe. Interestingly the motor was rebuilt by Paul Weir about 4 years ago, but hadn't been started until we put it in the '71 Targa. It was rebuilt to RS specs and as best as I can tell goes very well. It is still in the breakin period so I am being good and not thrashing it yet. ;) Should make for a fun fall driving season. Here is the motor being dropped off to be installed and then in the car.

I was told by my mechanic that he welded it in by accident. ;)

I'll have to ask Margaret, that is her car. ;) You'll feel right at home though in a MB wagon. :)

Here are some photos of my 1968 911 S. It is Tangarine color and has 71,000 original kms on it. It is an European version. It still needs some work, but I would say it is in very decent shape. :)

Personal preference...
I'm'a sucker for 'brightwork' around the windows on an Early car... I'd bring it back.

I totally agree with you, but the previous owner did a very good job of getting rid of the chrome. :mad:

It looks like the only way to bring it back would be to take all the windows out and send the window frames and the door handles to be chromed again, and at this point it doesn't sound very appealing.

It will be done someday, I'm sure.

How about sanding it off and polishing the aluminum? Would look great, and with a coat of wax, the aluminum doesn't really need to be annodized. Unless yours is chromed brass, when did it change...?

Here's my humble '73T 50/50 rat, broken motor and all... BTW, if anyone knows of a cheap, decent early 911 motor for sale, I'm all ears. Bottom image is from a couple hours pre 'boom' (Chuck, I sympathize)

Sounds good and it might work. I'll have to give it a try. Ihave to fix a rust spot on the left front fender, so this might be a good time to try. I'll let you know how it went.

This happened about 3 years ago when the previous owner did a bear all paint job. (wouldn't it have been a great opportunity to chrome the things again :confused: )
