Hello I just joined and this is my first post so I hope I did this right. I wanted to show you all my new to me 71 Euro 911T with its late 70s early 80s make over. Once I get her road safe I will probably start trying to fix her up and thinking of turning her back in to a long hood. The picture looks better then she does in person so I am excited to get started. For starters has anyone installed retractable seat belts in a 71 before? Sorry,I am going to apologize in advance for asking a million questions as the projects move forward. Thanks in advance!

I followed you on one of the driving tours in Boerne...I can attest for the wonderful sound coming out of those pipes.:)

The original pics look like it had red Sport Seats. I don't know that I have ever seen original red Sport Seats.
Hi correct, it was red sport seat both former owner and COA say so also. Unfornitilly i hav´t been able to find them at former owners.

Here is my '72E in a photo taken at the Cars and Coffee event at the Amelia Island Concours two years ago, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911. The car was featured in an article in the spring issue of Esses in a story of how I tracked down its ownership history. It's been refreshed, but is still in mostly original condition and a blast to drive in the mountains of East Tennessee. Albert blue over tan, and waiting for installation of an NOS set of TTG driving lights.

Hi folks,
New to SWB 911 cars and a new member of this registry. Just purchased a rhd row 911 T. Car was registered in UK in Nov 67 but was a 68 model year car. So does that make her a 67 or 68? Attachment 306682
very nice ! :)
Mirror, door handle, wipers= 68 Model year
Nice car! Is this the one Canford Classics restored??
There really is something about slate grey. It's not just Steve McQueen. That is a beautiful car.
cheers and welcome!!
and what is up with the architecture over there?
Even if it is an early 68 delivered new in ´67, it is a part of the ´68 model year production and should be called a 68.
One of my cars is delivered in 1966, but it is not a 66S even if it sounds cool ;)
How is life with an early Porsche in Singapore? Can´t be that many cars around.
Cheers!

Me too! :)
Not exactly hot over here, but yesterday was maybe the last warm day this year. Had a great drive with my kid. Today it was chilly...

That pic of fresh warm asphalt makes me very jealous Mike.......
Wish we could drive that together Radmund... twists and turns through the transition into Conifer Forest from Ponderosa. Hell of a road that heads up to 10,500 ft (3200 m :)) The only real reason I have a road bike -
And I just saw a piece on the Flam Railway... I'd love to tour your conutry, man! Someday
maybe bring a Porsche too... hold onto that car till then, ok?
I think I did that drive in the Sandia mts a couple of years ago..went in for the PCA Santa Fe weekend event...beautiful drive to top..was in my 97 TT
Frank
This is not a car for the purists, but if I can manage to backdate it a little and make it a reliable beater, it will be available for S-Reg members who would like to explore Norway or Europe. I have plenty of suggestions where to drive and things to see! ;)
Attachment 308338
I´m also dreaming of taking the blue car back to the US, so maybe we will have the chance to go for a drive together one day either here or at your place, who knows?? :)
I love it! You would not have to change that car much to make me happy!!!!!!!!!!
Our hearts and intentions are right. Now we just need the planets to align and perhaps get our kids in college
Cheers hombre!!!

Great looking car. What size wheels and tires?
About 150 miles in France yesterday, just opposite to the swiss boarder, in the state «Le Doubs». A wonderful and sunny day with a 964 Carrera 4, a 930, a 964 RS and Trudi of course! Bumpy and curvy roads on which torque is the key. Trudi was very easy in these conditions...

it is the car you are thinking of. Thanks!! We still keep in contact with the previous owner and it was a factory pickup. Ill start a thread for the car in the next few weeks :) heres another photo. With the installation of the hub caps, I've sort of come full circle with my '71. The car was delivered new in 1971 with steelies and hubcaps but ran most of its life with 6" Fuchs and a few years with American Racing Torque Thrusts. It's now running widened steelies with hub caps.
Attachment 317403
Curt,
I love the simple look of the caps. I was stationed in Germany '66 & '67 and that's what I saw most. I have a set of steelies stashed away to use on something or other when it comes along.
Cheers,

Hey all, Lee from Oz here
New to the registry, so I thought I'd drop in and say gday and thanks for having me.
It may not be a 911, but it's the next best thing at the moment. A 1966 912
Undergoing a preservation more than a restoration, as I'm using as many of the original parts that were fitted in 1966.
I'm just waiting on bumpers to be repainted, then it's not far from being registered for road use.
All work on the car was either done in my garage, or a mates carport.
It was a dodgy white paintwork when I bought it 18 months ago, and was stripped to bare metal after we did a check on the original colour which was Black.
LOTS of bog/bondo or mud as you Americans call it was removed, which revealed some nasty dents, but no rust. It required lots of bodywork to get to where it is now, and we replaced the floor pan.

Hello,
couple of pictures of 1969 T that I took hold of last Saturday, the Kardex shows same date, Jan 31st, as invoice date so I take that as good omen :)
Attachment 321545
Attachment 321546
It's a non-matching car with '70 E-engine (not mounted in the car at the moment). Based on Kardex, it was Bahama Yellow (6805) and had 15" steel wheels + painted hubcaps (9103), tinted windows all around (9347,9348,9350), Frankfurt radio (9452) and antenna (9431) and rubber strips (9304,9305) on bumpers. The interior is/was black vinyl (9822). Sold by VW Pacific in 1969, windshield has a decal about Texas and based on the underbody and overall condition it's spent it's life in dry climate. Not much left on what Kardex describes but nothing irreversible is badly wrong (other than it will never be numbers matching car but I got a T-engine project with the car that's correct vintage).
The '69 is my first Porsche. I have been involved with Cal Look / Resto Cal Volkswagens for 20 years, have had '52/'55/'63/'64 VW Bugs and still have a '60 'Vert that is a keeper (http://luftsick.blogspot.fi/search/label/My%20Cabriolet). It was a long process of "browsing" (wasn't sure whether I wanted 356, 912 or 911) and finally ponying up and buying the car when good car came across.
I am not still convinced whether I am more a 356 than 911 guy but should know more after the rookie season :)
regards, Tero

Welcome Mike.... I dig the body color Targa bar
Thanks Chuck, I must credit my uncle with the optical design of the car. He was the original owner. Going to black on the Targa bar might also be interesting, but I have enough to do with mechanical things on the car, and of course driving it! Those things have precendence over optical changes. :-)
After an endless, relentless, cold and catastrophically dry winter during which I tended to a multitude of details in my equally endless quest to finish Ruprecht, I spent the day yesterday cleaning and detailing it for the first extended spring drive today.

Michael,
I'm dancing as fast as I can, what with the number of other unfinished projects I started, the house in shambles due to a major reconstruction / remodel under way, and my car having been neglected somewhat during the winter…………but I am planning to drive Ruprecht to Scotts Valley, no matter what !!
Really looking forward to seeing you all there - the resumption of the Canepa C & C series in April to me has become the new official start of my "season", as it were……..and with a new Leica and lenses as well since the last October meeting.
JZG
Phillipe,
Welcome to the Registry.
What a beautiful and elegant 911, and it's heartwarming to see it being driven in conditions that scare me enough to stay off the road altogether…………….but I guess track days among other enthusiasts at least presumably take some of the craziness of driving in traffic in wet weather out of the equation.
All the Best,
JZG
Excellent Phillipe............ Welcome
John & Chuck
Thanks for the kind words

It may not look it's best today in this photo, needs a little cleanup and its proper wheels back on with some vintage rubber. I first saw this car in 1977, lusted after it then. Over the years it continued to inspire, never thought it would be under my care, but yesterday it became mine.
Wow Bob. Tell us more
Bob.....
cmon..big big tease.
It's a '72S with 2.8 P&C' built by Ed Mayo back in '76-'77 for Charlie Davis. The flairs were added at the same period. I do not have the records yet so dates are approx. Neither Ed, Charlie, nor I can remember that long ago. Charlie did lots of very neat bits on this build. He was the second owner, and owned it from late '73 until now. It has been squirreled away for some time so spring cleaning due.
This is one of the neatest 'barn finds' I have seen...more exciting than finding a stock 'S' with everything still on it. Bob has sent me pics and we have talked about the features, history, records, etc...I am anxious to see it with Harvey done wheels and other small detail adjustments. It is truly a slice of 70s history. Great find, Bob.
Thanks for the kind words, Gib. I just want to say given the use of terms coming under scrutiny this does not fit the "barn find" as its location has been well known all along. While I have spoken with Charlie from time to time about its status I cannot claim to be the one to convince him to move it on. I was just in the right place at the correct time. But very glad for that bit of good fortune.
HRE, Champion, Fiske and Lindsey Racing make nice wheels unless you have another "better" option....:roll eyes:
Great car. I know you're going to have fun.
Tom
Bob...car looks awesome...can't wait to follow that thing through some mtn twisties
SUNROOF LONGHOOD !!!!! Have been looking since last summer - finally got a 99% rust-free sunroof longhood.
New to me, arrived over the weekend from West Coast, bought from Freddie Hernandez (saw it first on Pelican, then here on early911S reg, bought it as fast as I could get Freddie to answer the phone).
Was excited to take for a ride but it had gas leak from dried out hoses.
Up on the lift today to see what we have.
1973 911T MFI, matching numbers.
Solid floors, a few sloppy repairs over the years (replacement of front pan and some welding on jack points), a little surface rust here and there, old white paint respray (over Sepia) cracked and chipped.
Replacing all fuel lines, all rubber brake lines with SS, and all cables (clutch, throttle, sunroof).
Will rebuild window regulators and door handles/locks.
Engine leak-down, 4 cylinders at around 5%, two at around 15%. No worries, it is going on the shelf in a few weeks as being replaced by Carrera 3.2L with A/C (compressor from the Carrera, all other A/C parts from a '68 including under the dash unit).
Going to take care of the surface rust right away - very little to address.
Delivered a pile of parts to be added: GTS Classic Sport seats, Racemark Personal wheel, 7R's and deep 6's, Avons, Carrera suspension, new Bilstiens, Elephant bushings, NOS aluminum S calipers, roof rack from Vintage, old Cebie hood lights, pre-73 Euro lenses on turns and tails, aluminum decklid, 5-bar grill, Amco rear bumper bars, restored H4's, dead pedal, Porsche sticker above side molding, chrome fender grills, Talbot mirror, REPA belts, Wevo shifter (and linkage parts) and a few more things I can't think of now.
Should be on the road in a month. First drive will be after the mods.
Going to leave the paint/body as-is for now... patina??? lol
This will be daily driver.

Attachment 330972
voila
Lovely car, great interior. Can you post some pictures of the interior?
Great find Bob. Thrilled to hear Ed was able to do CPR on that period-built 2.8! You've got my 2.5 beat by 2 years for longevity. Not many hotrodded motors built in the 70s are still going strong today. It's funny how people go to great lengths to preserve paint, seats, interiors, etc., but won't hesitate to tear apart an original (or period-built) engine just because a new rebuild might run a bit faster, maybe leak or burn a bit less oil or whatever. I've always been curious to learn how many hotrodded 70s-built engines are still in use.
*And I'd leave the CDI box - that's one of the 'good' Permatunes and very much a period-correct hotrod piece. Mine's still good after 36 years.
Just signed the papers for a purchase. Really excited about 1967S. Will require a lot of sorting when/if I decide to take it back to stock. The car comes with a three page list of original components that the seller, a vintage race driver, set aside. I'm thinking of racing it for a while then taking it back to street. Original engine and all body panels, NON matching gearbox. Original color was Bahama Yellow. Two owner car.

Options list:
Webasto Gas Heater
Catacolor glass
Blaupunkt "koln" Radio
Loudspeaker
Electric Antenna
Rear Window Wiper
Ski Holder
so far the only missing part is an original radio. Everything else is in boxes to bring it back to stock.
Congratulations. It appears you have a car in very nice shape that also appears to be dry. Is there any rust?
Great foresight by the Prior Owner to save all of the original parts because many of them are difficult to source. You do see she Blaupunkt Koln radios for sale with 1967 date code from time to time. Keep your eye on the Parts for Sale section. Good Luck.
Thanks Nick. I will keep an eye out for the KOLN radios. I'm going to assume some rust and deal with it when I convert back to street later. For now I will organize all the parts in bins on shelves and take a proper inventory. When I start to convert I will begin a post series showing progress.
unfortunately not a S, but nice :)
