Mike, car looks great! I like it with the original style front valance! (cant believe you put a plate on it though..crooked nonetheless)
Whats the plans for the winter?
Haha!
That plate is the law in IL...there were about 8 miscellaneous holes in the bumper before I had it redone......the body guy welded up all but the two stock holes...it could be easily taken off if need be....
Crooked, yea...I actually straightened it after I took these pics.....sometimes it brushes on the ground and "self adjusts"......notice the bottom of the plate is bent too....this is a driver LOL
Plans for this winter are:
1. New rubber bushings in entire suspension
2. Get carb throttle shafts rebushed and also rebuild carbs
3. Pull engine and install new throwout bearing (mine is noisy and I've put up with it for a year)
These three things should make the car more refined, meaning, less creaky, better idle, and less noise when clutch is pushed in.....
A few more pics (one taken after I straightened the plate!). That is original paint in the jambs, only the outside of the car has been repainted. Interior is all original.
I drove my car in the Targa Trophy rally yesterday. It was a great event with a lot of nice Porsches, but sadly I had the only vintage car.
My car:
1973 Porsche 911 S (9113301132)
-Non USA Model
-Beige Gray
-Black Sport Seats
-Tinted Glass
-Aluminum Deck Lid
-Muffler Skirt
Now Todd, if that isn't the nicest color i ever did see :D
Beautiful car.
Karl
Todd, your car is very cool!! Wow.
Todd,
+1 on the exceptional rarity and beauty of No. 622 Beige Gray. Great looking car!
just out of the oven...
I haven't posted any pics of my new old car (aka Wolf's old car) but figured as much as I like to check out everybody else's great cars on this forum, I should do my share.
Funny thing about these old 911s. I bought mine thinking a full resto would be fun and "putting around" in it would be all I'd do when it was finished. My first run to 7k in second and third gear really turned my whole world upside down though. I wish I could've seen my own face .
It took a little while to get used to actually trusting a 41 year old factory hot rod enough to get me to work and back, but it has and does just fine. It smoked a bit and smelled funny at first but a heavy right foot seems to have fixed that little trait as well. The quarter windows make A/C unnecessary (at least on reasonable days), and the sounds running up through the gears...well, you guys know.
I'm now thinking that a bit of work on a few rust bubbles on a door and some surface rust cleanup on the pan is probably going to be the extent of my "full resto" for a few years. A correct black 67 interior is on the list too (almost there) but the hell with tearing this thing down to the shell right now, It drives too nice as is (thanks again Wolf!)
I'm pretty lucky to have a modern version of an early S to compare the old car to. They're both great cars...twins separated by 37 years of development. I Have to include my two favorite pics of this one as well, early S or not. Enjoy...
Ryan, your car looks fantastic!
I thought I would continue the Australian flavor with a few updated pics of my 69't...
