Auction Description:
• Delivered new to Germany
• Early short-wheelbase car
• One of the first 911S models
• One of only 523 produced
• Matching chassis, engine, and transmission numbers
The Porsche 911S offered here, chassis number '307205S', is one of the early, short-wheelbase type much favoured by the historic rallying fraternity, a situation that has led to unmodified examples such as this one becoming a great rarity and consequently much in demand. Noteworthy features include the dashboard instruments with green figures (correct for the 1965-1967 model years), and the very rare and expensive, Fuchs deep-dished five-spoke alloy wheels.
This car was delivered new via the Volkswagen and Porsche dealer Rittersbacher of Kaiserslautern, Germany on 24th February 1967, and was registered on 1st July of that year to its first owner, Wilfried Holzenthal of Weidenhahn, Germany (delivery certificate available). History relating to its time with three further collector owners (2001-2011) is available also.
The current owner purchased the Porsche in 2011, at which time it was still in its original and rare Sand Beige colour (albeit an older repaint) and otherwise was un-restored and original. A Technical Inspection was carried out in May 2012 by TüV Rhineland (Classic Data report available) and later that year the car was extensively refurbished by one of Germany's most respected restorers, Thomas Grohmann of Classic Car Workshop in Pruem. As well as routine servicing, these works included renewing all the body's rubber seals; re-upholstering the seats in black leather and fitting new carpets; re-plating the brightwork; replacing the brake hoses; overhauling the carburettors; clear re-waxing the under-body; and fitting a new silencer and a new battery. The engine and gearbox are described as in top condition, and the car comes with cancelled German Fahrzeugbrief and fresh TüV valid until January 2020. All invoices are available. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a stunning and very rare early 911S with the desirable short wheelbase.

Auction Description:
• One of only 925 911S Targas built
• Matching chassis, engine, and transmission numbers
• Professionally restored in 2017 (all bills available)
• Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
• EU taxes paid
Finished in its original colour scheme of Light Ivory with black leatherette interior, this 2.4-litre Porsche 911S was imported from the USA in April 2013 and comes with the bill of sale and its former State of Colorado Certificate of Title. Noteworthy features include sports seats, Fuchs forged alloy wheels, and Koni shock absorbers (instead of Boge).
In 2017 a full 'last nut and bolt' restoration by was carried out by the renowned Porsche restorer Thomas Grohmann of Classic Car Workshop in Prüm, Germany. Works carried out included completely disassembling the body/chassis, which was then sandblasted, welded, painted, stone-guarded, and clear waxed. All seals were replaced and all suspension chassis bushings renewed. The suspension likewise was completely disassembled, sand blasted, and powder coated, while the tie rods were renewed and adjusted. Brake lines, brake master cylinder, brake callipers and discs, shock absorbers and drive shafts were renewed, and new tyres fitted.
Using original materials, the interior was completely re-trimmed, including the headlining, dashboard top, and door pillars, while the carpets and insulation were renewed in their entirety (boot included). In addition, the instruments were cleaned and overhauled, and the original steering wheel restored and re-trimmed in leather.
The original exterior chromed trim parts were cleaned and straightened and are in excellent condition, while the headlights and their surrounds were renewed together with bumper pads and over-riders. All gaskets, window guides, and rubbers were replaced.
The engine and transmission have been completely rebuilt to factory specification, and the fuel pump and fuel injection system overhauled. The air filters, ignition coil and leads, distributor cap and rotor arm, and spark plugs are all new. The alternator and starter have been overhauled and the wiring harness checked and re-wrapped. Other parts renewed include the rear silencer, heat exchanger, engine and gearbox mounts, fuel tank, fuel lines, and the insulating mats in the engine compartment. The engine bay panels have been sandblasted and powder coated. It should be noted that the car's restoration was competed only recently and that the engine needs to be run in.
All invoices are available and the car also comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity; tax receipts from May 2000 to October 2007; an original tax disc; original key set (two plus spare); an original 1973-model owner's manual; and fresh German TüV valid until January 2020.
Comprehensively rebuilt using as many original parts as possible, this beautiful Porsche 911S Targa represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire an example in virtually 'as delivered' condition, representing extremely good value.

No affiliation with seller, but I’ve seen this car. Theft recovery with CHP ID tag. Unaltered chassis VIN stamping. Front alu tag missing. 15- footer paint. Missing S oil system & cooler. Missing S brakes. Engine lid slam panel is 1973.5/later. Right door rear gap is good at the bottom; 8mm “proud” at door top. Not sure if door or chassis are twisted. Hood stands 8-9mm high at rear edge. Gas tank doesn’t appear to be ‘seated.’ Other issues are listed in the ad.

the slate gray 67S at Gooding in Scottsdale sold for 190k plus comm (209k). Was originally polo red, but the car was beautiful. I thought it was a steal at that price. A few lots after was a silver 2.2S that got exactly the same price.

Re: Gooding '67S
I was there...average paint, gaps OK, didn't get to look at motor or trunk...didn't bother after below.
Interior had kit seat covers with terrible shape, dash and carpet OK
Incorrect bumper trim (generic repro late wide S) wrong late front over riders with the plastic inserts.
there was nothing great about the car....maybe good, but....
If that stuff was was all not so good, what else inside and underneath??
The smart money in the room went as far as they should have.
The silver '70S coupe was a better honest car with some patina, and a really good buy.
I think the 67 also took a hit because of the color change, but I am not sure of the whole story, since the car was supposedly fully restored (in red) in 2013. I agree with Mark on the rest.
The 70 was gorgeous. Fit and finish was excellent, beautiful sport seats with perforated leather. It just really 'popped' on stage too.

Auction Description:
- Early example of Porsche’s first high-performance 911 S
- Only two private owners; remained in Texas most of its life
- Original, numbers-matching chassis, engine, and gearbox
- Exhaustive restoration to factory specifications
- Includes copy of factory Kardex, COA, owner’s manual, tool set, and jack
- Never publicly displayed; ready for its first show
The life of this 911 began on 31 October 1966, making it among the first S coupes built. Swathed in Light Ivory over black leatherette trim, it was delivered new to P.C. Southwest in San Antonio, Texas. It was acquired new by Dr. T.C. Ford, MD, of Breckenridge, Texas, who owned the car until 2009, though he had taken it off the road in 1981. It was then owned by James D. Rogers Jr. of Humble, Texas, from whom the consignor acquired it several years ago. That period of dormancy helped preserve it in highly original condition, including its original floor, fenders, and body panels.
Noted Porsche experts at Apex Auto Body in Denver recently completed the restoration of this 911 to its original specification. The work included rebuilding the brakes, shock absorbers, and suspension, amongst other things, to factory standard. The Porsche even rides on its original, date-coded, 1967 model year-only 4.5-in. Fuchs alloy wheels, which were expertly refinished by noted authority Harvey Weidman. The 911 S displays excellent panel fit and its chrome surfaces boast a mirror finish, reflected perfectly in the exceptional paint. Inside, the car is striking with new black vinyl in the correct pattern and finish, along with new black carpeting. Amenities include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio and a fully functional Webasto heater tucked under the front hood. At the rear, its original, numbers-matching 2.0-liter flat-six engine and five-speed transmission was rebuilt by Brad Berry in Denver. The solitary modification is the stainless-steel headers, which run more efficiently and are less prone to corrosion over the original units.
The 911 S has been driven less than 100 miles since its restoration was completed. The consignor notes that it is regularly started and maintained to the highest standards to ensure everything remains in proper working order and that it drives like a brand-new 911 S should. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a copy of the factory Kardex will be included with the sale, along with the owner’s manual, tool kit, and jack. It has not been shown since its restoration and would certainly be the star of any Porsche gathering.
