Got that right. Most of my junk will end-up hanging on the walls + ceilings. Gonna put up some racks but keep 'em <18" wide . . . leave enough room to swing my doors wideQuote:

I like the metal racks from home depot. I'm gonna get a few more for my tools. Right now they have a bunch of Porsche parts on them that need to go back in the car.

Wasn't exactly sure quite what kinda finish had been used here. But --- whatever the paint/stain/coating was? . . . hot tires had already been removing it for years before I got there --- prolly from the beginning. Fast-forward eight-some years and this stuff now was coming-off on my hands. Fugly color, too. Concrete's already gray so? . . . why bother painting it gray? Weird
Anyway, had several options for removal . . .
..1) chemical stripper --- ugh! . . . deadly-poison, noxious fumes, waste disposal = pass
..2) pressure washer --- this looked attractive, but . . . I'd prolly end up with my garage if not soaking wet, than, at least, soggy. A lot of exposed lumbar + sheet-rock in my garage + never used one before = lemmethinkaboutit
..3) mechanical stripper --- like the one in my trunk . . . see previous post
Actually bought a can of paint stripper --- to test it out . . . like, <$10 for a ~quart-size can. 'Apply + wait 15 minutes' = meh!
Pressure washer seemed kinda problematic, so . . .
. . . tah-daaaah! . . .
. . . grinder it is
Home Depot was down the street --- and they had everything I needed + then some, so . . . $123/day got me a machine + grinder. Requisite eye/lung protection was another $46. I already had ear-protection, so . . .
. . . off to the races
Thing is heavy as hell, too --- maybe 50 lbs? . . . + not small --- but fit in my car trunk (more-or-less). Took a little getting used-to to use. Ended-up maneuvering the grinder by tilting/putting pressure on the corner of the pad --- pretty easy once I got the hang of it. Started-out working in small areas, trying to get every last molecule of paint off --- and taking WAY to much time, in the process . . . then settled on a simple 'sweep' technique --- swinging the grinder in 6-foot arcs . . . making better/faster progress
Not exactly strenuous, but --- in >100-degree heat? . . . made for a long day

Turned-out decent-enough
Hard to see the actual results while I was a-grindin'. Overall, prolly removed ~95% of the previous finish. Most of what was left was either in a corner --- where the stripper-wheel couldn't quite reach . . . or skipped-over in some of the low spots in the concrete
Hosed-off all the debris, let everything dry --- @>100F, didn't take long . . . docked the fleet, then called it a day
A little grim, maybe, but . . .
. . . sure beats having a nasty grey floor with a bunch o' tire-tracked bare-spots in the paint
Smells good, too!

Get some 3M or Scotch Brite Industrial pads for your angle grinder and finish this project and get it painted. The more you "track" on the bare concrete the more 'oily' contaminants you will deposit on your rolling tyre footprint and you will end up with your original issue yet again.

Ordinarily, 95% would've been good enough to get on with the painting --- but . . .
. . . I was a little hesitant about leaving any old paint on the floor that might keep the new from adhering, sooooo . . .
. . . I took that quart o' chemical paint stripper then went after some of the more-obvious places that the mechanical stripper couldn't get . . . low-points, mostly, along with some corners + edges
Spread the stripper 'goo' with a disposable brush, waited a few, then scraped the mixture off with a broader putty knife, using some steel-bristled brushes for a coupla stubborn places . . . collected all the residue for a trip to the local haz-mat site
Worked-out OK, I thought
Surprised by how much more stuff came off this way

. . . let everything dry overnight
