eBay Sales History Thread - 911T

I saw that car in Portland. Any originallity was ruined by the detail shop that was hired to detail the car. They had half the car appart. They rattle caned the entire bottom of the car, put in aftermarket carpets, and made sure that every nut and bolt was put in the wrong place on the car. In additon the car had previous paint work, drivers side is several shades of silver. If your are interested make sure you get the owner on the phone, he will impress you with his lack of command for the english lauguage.

Thinking about it, I may have known this car when it was new...I sent seller a question, asking if he had the original owner's name. I also asked why the sticker specified MFI, and the car is obviously CIS...

FWIW, an update on the silver car. The following is a cut & paste...his response to my questions:

hello. thank you for your email. and thank you for bringing the discrepancy
to my attention. sometimes you miss the most obvious things right under your
nose!

to answer your question: i have no idea why the window sticker says
mechanical fuel injection! one of the first things i did prior to purchasing
the car was to make sure the engine and various #s match all printed
documents, such as warranty voucher filled out by continental porsche at the
time of sale. of course, engine and chassis #s match! my mechanic went very
thoroughly over the car, and he tells me that if the FI had been swapped, he
would've known from looking at the heads/block/and whatever else (i
apologize, i'm not a mechanic, so i forget exactly what he told me when i
asked him today after receiving your email). unfortunately, the porsche
certificate of authenticity i sent away for has not yet arrived. the local
porsche dealership tells me that there have been reported incidents of
erroneous printing of window stickers, especially near the transition period
when the T changed injection system ~mid year.

i will look into this further and email you as soon as i have more info.
thank you again for bringing it to my attention. i don't know how many times
i looked at that window sticker...and to have missed such obvious...

a concourse judge/interested buyer is flying up to inspect the car in the
next few days, so i'm sure he will help shed some light on the situation.

also, the car is almost sold, as i am in the final stages of negotiation
with the buyer. thank you.

You'll notice that I wasn't enthusiastly invited up there for a look at it...What, he's asking $45K and expects somebody to buy based only on pics? :rolleyes:

I've seen the car. Unless the "concours judge" has gained his experience with Chevys or something, at $45K he'll ask for a ride back to the airport. The whole story really sounds like BS to me.
