I don't think the mag cases warp while they sit in storage unbolted. I think what happens is that the case appears to be OK during disassembly as the crank will rotate with no problem even in a warped case. Once you unblolt the case halfs, the case relaxes to it's warped condition and the line bore is out of spec. If you try to retorque the case, the crank will not spin freely.
You may be kidding yourself if you disassemble a mag case engine and assume the case is good because the crank spun nicely during diassembly. Bolting the case halfs together for storage will not undo the damage.

All good data , what i will be doing is as follows ;
- gently bolt the case together
- totally coat it in gibs
- make a box up to hold the case ( in position as per car installed )
- lay a peace of 10mm polystyrene along the middle of the box on the base inside.
- fill 1/3 the way up with expanding builders foam
- lay a bin liner on the foam(while wet ) and fold the sides over the box
- lay case right side up into the liner so using the weight to mold the foam under the case .
- let dry
- fold back the bin liners sides , wrap tight except for two small openings at each end
- using argon shield from the mig gear ( or co2) fill the bag to displace the oxygen . seal the ends .( no oxygen = no white rust )
This should support the case well , stop any corrosion and be ready for rebuild when needed.:D

Is Gibbs available in any 'chain' stores in the US? ie. Pepboys, Home Depot, etc...

John,
I think your preparations are about right.
I have plans for a climate controlled bunker.
No place for halfway measures!
