oh yes, Mr Hoeneß….
he had one before, and some after this one…
this is the one before..;)
btw…he is still married to his wife since 1972…
Uli got a 3 1/2 year prison sentence in 2014 for tax evasion (numbered Swiss bank account). He ended up serving half the time. I wonder if the Finanzamt took any of his 911's?

It is a latish RS if I understand the advert correctly June 1973 is mentioned so presume that’s when delivery photo was taken — anyone have a colour version of photo or others of his car?
What was the vin and colour of this car as delivered. Probably in the reference books but mine aren’t to hand. Usually the side stripes of non-GPW white RS (if fitted) had to be black — except if car was black. There was “rules” to this effect in the specific RS ordering procedure. Only after the Carrera side decals were even permitted to non-white RS examples in calendar 1973; originally rule was no Carrera side decal on non- GP white cars. Could get PORSCHE on side as option if memory serves me well.
But these stripes in the photo appear to be lighter than black? Always exceptions to every rule of course. Maybe being a celebrity allowed him some latitude or special wishes or maybe these written rules were relaxed for the much later RS? After all it wasn’t a homologation matter the side stripe was on the conversion order so apparently applied post weight scales for early RS cars that were weighed although this car clearly one of ones that was after so such things didn’t really matter because were just built like production Series TES rather than the original way of the homologation special loops and hood of the first two RS series.
Also it has 7&8” wheels at new which has been discussed I seen recall this photo was shown on another thread about first use if wider wheels first seen from around the springtime — generally 7&8”— an option but without M option number weren’t initially available on early RS that had the 6&7” of the model specification, afaik.

Maybe he existed in a monochrome world:)
Dirk had previously posted this photo of him and
that car in another thread — natty sheepskin seat covers are “very 70s”. Glimpse of rear parcel shelf auxiliary speakers. Roof antenna not usual position. Had been to aftermarket sound system fitter in meantime, it seems?

Shows how wheel weights were applied to outside of the fronts back in the day rarely seen done that way in restorations these days. Looks like Dunlop tyres
That brand also began to be used for RS alongside the earlier unique for RS Pirelli cn36 onetime the sole supplier of the special RS size rears?
Also another good view of factory fitted bonnet mounted lamps.

In Ireland, Mitchum filmed "Ryan's Daughter." A role he was paid $870,000 to "come out of retirement" for. While in Ireland, Mitchum stayed in a small 11-room hotel that he had entirely to himself. If the front desk phone rang while he was there, Mitchum would answer it and make reservations for future guests."

I was there at Mondello that day. Porsche sent over a number of 997 cars for guests to drive after they made a big donation to the Charity. To my knowledge the 997 was only officially launched the following week.
Paul Newman was made an Honorary Member of Porsche Club Ireland that night. A really remarkable and nice man , sadly missed.
Met Pete after a SCCA race somewhere in Texas in probably early 73. My memory is that he had broken a thumb in an earlier race when the steering wheel spun. I got the impression that NASA did not know he was at this race!

'. . . The significance of the Ginther 911ST was that it was the first of what became a number of Porsches that were purchased by Americans prepared and then taken back to Europe to race, mostly at Le Mans. Richie Ginther Racing's All American was an entry at Le Mans in 1971 with Alan Johnson and Elliott Forbes-Robinson as their drivers. Ginther called his 911 ST Sloopy Jr. and Sloop ran with a 2.4 engine configuration in the 1971 Le Mans race. Ginther was a master at getting a little more out of production Porsches because he had been preparing 911s and 914s for SCCA racing here in the US for a few years before their 1971 Le Mans effort. As a result he had some tricks for the 911 that they hadn’t seen in production based race cars Europe before. Ginther replaced the rubber suspension bushings with Teflon suspension bushings of their own manufacture which offered more precise suspension alignment. They also used stiffer torsion bars which improved the cars handling. Harold Broughton who did the engines for Ginther prepared the engine for their Le Mans effort. Their efforts paid off for they were the fastest qualifier in the Group 4 GT class and the fastest of 20 GT Porsches entered. Unfortunately they had mechanical problems . . .'

Images aren’t great as stills taken from TV screen images whilst watching a BBC documentary programme about how Dean was proven correct based on tapes about his recollection of the conversation with the President.
There is a reasonable amount of coverage in the documentary is with Dean in the car around 1973. I only took a few snaps from screen from the moving images. Wonder if car is still around?

John Deans car is still around the Washington Metro area. It is currently painted Olympic Blue (914 color) and was flared with RS flares.
Anyone know any more about the John Lennon 911? Did he own it? Thanks!
Hmm. This suggests it's actually a 912. https://tork.buzz/classics/John-Lenn...0816-0003.html
This suggests he bought it for his wife, and she thought it was too fast! So he got her a Beetle instead.
https://911uk.com/threads/john-lennons-porsche.27126/
“Then one day John came in very excited, made me cover my eyes and led me outside. Standing on the drive was a gold Porsche for me. A few weeks later I got up to find the Porsche gone and in its place a red Ferrari. Now that he, too, was able to drive, John had part-exchanged my car for one for himself. Generous as he was, this impulsive act was typically thoughtless: he hadn’t stopped to consider whether I might mind, just rushed ahead. Once he’d taken a decision everyone and everything had to fall into line with it. He had little time for negotiation, considering or planning, preferring to act on impulse and hang the consequences” https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/121...xcited-made-me
"When she passed her driving test Lennon bought her a white Mini car, and then a gold Porsche. One day she found a red Ferrari in place of the Mini, as Lennon had traded the Mini in for the Ferrari (which was for himself as he had recently passed his driving test) without telling her. Lennon later bought her a green Volkswagen Beetle." https://beatles.fandom.com/wiki/Cynthia_Lennon
Rather gruesome … August 9 1969 … it was a long time ago.
Location 10050 Cielo Drive LA at the Polanski residence. Body being recovered is one of the five victims that included Sharon Tate and an Abigail Folgers, coffee heiress.
There is a 911 in the background. Image snapped from tv screen of old film footage so explains why it’s not clear — appeared in a Netflix documentary Chaos.
Looks to be black coupe on Fuchs with side marker on rear? It could belong to one of the responders but perhaps more likely type of vehicle owned by a Bel-Air resident?

Found in www but who knows if what is said is correct . Jay Sebring was one of the five victims a successful hairdresser

Perhaps his nephew and maker of the documentary, Anthony DiMaria, knows the whereabouts of the 911???
I believe Sebring's car was a '68. From the picture, it looks like this one could be a 68. It wasn't typical to put those reflectors or headlight doors on earlier cars. Hard to be sure, but the door handles also look like 68.
In Tarentino's movie, a '73 was used despite the movie being set in '69.
and I think it was a Sportomatic
Yes, appears to be a ‘68 911L Sportomatic.
I highly recommend Jay Sebring....Cutting to the Truth. Excellent documentary about an entrepreneurial pioneer who shared our enthusiasm for Porsches. It appears Sebring’s business partner, Jim Markham, bought the 911 from Sebring’s father: https://www.americansalon.com/hair/j...hollywood-life
Appears to have the aftermarket Amco bars as well.
