Hanging out with the McLaren mechanics next to his fragile BRM, which had the suspension failure that killed him.

Tragic story, I saw it live on TV that day as a teenager. I'm surprised he was only 35, lookes a lot older in the photos.

Jo Siffert and Denny Hulme in turn 9 at the 1971 Laguna Seca Can-Am. Siffert would finish 5th. One week later, he would be dead. Siffert established the 917-10 as force to be reckoned with while Porsche and Penske were working on the 917-10 Turbo that would rip the championship away from McLaren one year later...
