concerning the 911/912 chassis.
the delivery of the 912 started 5th april 1965, first only to european dealers.
that letter is great!
Hi EAC,
with the help of another forum member (TXS!) I found that the carpet hold on snaps is a 1964 item for sure. You should have 11 snaps. I would guess your car got one of the last floors like this, mine does not have it (700). Anybody with a number <717 help!
Txs, J
my car has 8 snaps, 4 on each side, two for the front and two for each of the back floor mats. Were would the extra 3 snaps be? Maybe in the middle tunnel area?
driver and passenger sides in the back 2 each
driver side front 2
passengerside front 4 (2 at the seat like at drivesr side) and 2 diagonal in the very front area
one on the tunnel, I think just behind the handbrake lever
Two snaps are on the wood passenger foot support board. Later a pair of the metal tab holders were used on the passenger side (for the leather carpet holds).
The 8 supports on the floor to hold the carpet snaps are an indication the floor sheet metal is original. The snap screw hole just behind the emergence brake lever is evidence the tunnel is original to the car. All carpet replaced during the last 50 years missed it even being there. Only us few guys owning early cars know it should be there, and what to look for when seeing original carpet.
Here is the snap behind the emergency brake area Attachment 331183
My car is a US car (Oregon) and went into dry storage around 1980 so it is very solid, mostly surface rust, here is the battery area after a few minutes with a wire brush and a vacume

do you have the foot rest board also for passenger side?
Don't know if this will help, but here is what #301111 has. Four on each side and one behind the E-brake. This also shows the padding on the floor.
