I began this Porsche journey as a casual observer but quickly became fully immersed. I've learned so much and experienced things I couldn't have imagined when I first started.
I have to remind myself how owning a 911 has transformed my life. I've made hundreds of new friends... many of which are the close, life-long variety.
The cars are incredible but its the people who have made the greatest impact.
Mark, I feel the same way. So many good people.
Ok. A few more;
2.8 twin plug goodness

creative antenna plug
coming off the celete bench at Roy Smalley's shop. ...yes this rat has had a fair bit of $$$ spent on bodywork. You just can't tell. We had to deal with torsion bar tube and the spring plate cups.
sorry about the sideways photos.

Hi all,
I just added this to my garage to go alongside my 72 hot rod. Italian market 1968 911S, Ossi Blue, Beige Interior with factory corduroy inserts. Has the unusual Kardex option listed as Galvanized Floorpans, which I'd never seen before and explains the great condition of the tub itself. One owner for 40+yrs, and then in a private collection in Germany ever since. I'm 3rd owner. Shipped over with 5 other cars to be sold in the US including sharing a container with a 917 and 910 factory race cars. Very original, matching numbers survivor. I'm quite excited as this is my first SWB car.
Attachment 586594Attachment 586595Attachment 586596Attachment 586597
Inspired by the previous post, I present my brother's 911. Also a '68, also ossi blue. He bought it in 1999, Texas import. Back then it was white, but the body was repair welded and resprayed a few years later.

BRAVO drnish !!!!!
Correct. Sorry I was late to respond. Just got the car last week. Unrestored other than Interior. Probably had a repaint somewhere along the way, and top end, but the case seals are factory so it’s never been rebuilt. Shows 74k Kilometers but who knows. Not a ton of records other than ownership. We just went through it top to bottom. It’s definitely not a perfect car, but quickly will be a great driver/survivor. It’s got the bones to be a show car down the line with a full restoration but not for now. I didn’t realize till recently that Italian market cars in 1968 had the clear turn signals. Those are unique to a single year (1968), and only for Italy. It was fairly represented. Dirk (owner of PS) is selling his whole collection btw. He shipped 6 cars over to Hendricks Porsche NC. I think the Red 1968 911S SWT is still there and for sale. Shows on his German website but car is already in the US. It shared its container with my car and the Factory test 917 race car VIN 032! I know as it’s one my import paperwork! He also shipped over a 908 and a 910, both sold already as I understand it. PM me if you want details.
Italian cars through the 73my all had clear 2/3 amber 1/3 turn signals.
Took my Targa out for a spin for its 51st birthday. First photo of this car posted on this thread since the very first post! Beautiful day and just before another big storm coming in tomorrow.

Hi everyone,
I’m new to this club, even though I signed up in 2016. Looking forward to being a full member and getting to know some of you.
Grew up in So Cal and was fortunate to have been around a great many cars. Shelby’s Cobra shop was just around the corner from my house and remember seeing some very nice cars. Too young to remember any details other than I was fascinated by the look and sound of those cars.
Always enjoyed and appreciated all marques, and while my very first car was a 1966 427 Corvette, which I still own, I’ve always loved Porsches. I can remember driving with my parents past the Vasek Polak dealership on PCH many times and staring out the car window and admiring the cars at the dealership. I was probably 8 years old and every time we drove past the dealership, I would ask my parents to buy me one.
I had planned on getting an early 911 around the time I signed up for this club in 2016. Not intending to buy another Corvette, in 2016 I ran into a car I couldn’t pass on, a 1967 L71 with less than 15k miles. I spent a year getting the car ready for a run at the NCRS Duntov award. In 2018, my wife and I received that award at the NCRS Nationals. It was an amazing experience. Absolutely loved the car. Sold it. Miss it dearly.
I now have a 1973 911E Targa. Neighbors’ car and couldn’t pass on it. I was looking for a 911 s coupe but really liked this one. For some reason or another, it is the Targa I remember most as a kid.
Anyways bought the 911E a few weeks ago. Funny story is that a week before I bought it, my neighbor gave me her father’s Vasek Polak plate holder. You can imagine the memories that brought back.

Good afternoon,
I’m a new member of the Registry, and I thought I’d introduce myself. I’ve purchased a 1972 911T coupe in Albert Blue, my first early 911 after previously owning a 1988 3.2 Carrera. The car checks all the right boxes in terms of originality and rust-free history, and it has some typical options such as tinted glass, S appearance package with trim and gauges, Fuchs wheels, and anti sway bars, all as per the COA.
I’m sure as I continue to familiarize myself with the car I’ll have questions, and I’ve already found this Forum to be a great resource, as I found the car here.
I’ll try and attach a picture. If it works, those here familiar with Virginia will recognize Gunston Hall in the background. My direct email is in the Spring issue of Esses Magazine, if anyone in the Washington, DC area wants to reach out directly please do so.

Stretch, I suspect that goes a whole lot quicker than your average 71E.:D very nice!
Thanks gents.
High praise coming from Chuck :)
I had a 71T for 6 years (pictures somewhere in this thread and on the forum) and sold it to buy a nice 356C but somehow I really missed my 911. A very good friend, "Rusty" here on the forums, had this car and we did some wheeling and dealing so I ended up with it. It took a couple of years (and two deployments) to get it on the road again but its been a lot of fun and I'm glad I'm back in the Early 911 community again.
Rusty installed a sport suspension from Rebel and I built the engine (with Rusty's help). Engine machine work was done by Ollie's (great company I can't recommend enough) with other parts done by Eurometrics (throttle bodies) and MFI Werks (MFI pump). I also had the twin CDI boxes rebuilt by Mr. Ashlock (another great guy to work with). Dave at TRE was immensely helpful getting the twin plug distributor from Mittlemotor sorted correctly as well.
As mentioned, still a lot to do but I drive the car every chance I get. And it is a bit faster than a stock 911E.....:D

Wonderful car with a lot of the right hands laid on it.
I do think you need longer pipes, though.
Jens,
Agree on the pipes :D
It's actually a genuine Leistritz muffler that was converted to a sport muffler in period. I'm not sure if it's a factory sport muffler (it certainly looks likes one) or one converted using the handbook that Porsche produced and distributed. I thought about shortening the pipes until I saw period pictures of cars running pipes just as long so I left them as is. As my wife says: "Your not sneaking up on anybody in that thing."
There were (and still are) a lot of people who have been immensely helpful getting the car back on the road. Henry at Supertec provided some parts (and several hours of his time on the phone) and GT1 did the oil pump. Several other members here on the forum helped with smaller parts as well. At the end of the day, Rusty was the biggest help. He's a great person and friend and an outstanding, if quiet, member of this community. He's the reason I got into early 911's and his knowledge and time are the reason the car is on the road. I spent hours wrenching on the car in his shop using his specialty tools and manuals and picking his brain when I ran into a problem. He's a wealth of knowledge and great asset to the local Porsche community for "do it yourselfers" like me.
Stretch
Stretch, let me say it again, the car is brilliant. Congratulations! It must be GREAT in the twisties.
I had a car with long pipes like that. When the fortieth someone asked why so long, I finally started saying they were like wheel barrow handles and made parallel parking easier. Just get out, lift up the back of the car and set it where you want. Occasionally, some would look puzzled and some would act as if they believed it. I never knew. But they look cool on your car.
I had the same long pipes extending from the muffler on my 1973 911 but they suddenly were cut off.......my late mechanic said that he was sick and tired of banging his shins on the long pipes when he walked around my car and so he cut them off.......but shortly I (he) installed headers and megaphones and the long pipes were gone........luckily the car was only a race car as the straight pipes would have woken the dead on the public roads!

Hello,
Introducing my 1971 911 T which is (pick one) a bastard / Sports Purpose / RS / Hotrod inspired build.
It been quite the journey learing the steps on how to build a car like this, and im realizing I just have started to understand some of the fine details with these cars. I have read and learned a lot from this forum, and I have lots more to read and learn, trying to do most of the work on the car myself.
I have buildt the car on my interpretation of what «1970`s Porsche sports purpose program» was. I did this over the last five years on my spare time.
The car boasts G model trailing arms, brake booster and 915 gear box.
I had the car dynoed last week to 232hp/311nm on the hubs. To say the fun factor is present within this car, is an understatement :D
Looking forward to learning more from this board and I really apprciate the effort and precision all members put in their posts and articles (esses). I really enjoy it. Thank you so much for that.
Cheers,
Andy

My humble little car-
An innocent thing.
Nice car Jens! What is that yellow color called?
Thank you, Andy. The color is number R1012, code 115, CitronenGelb, Lemon Yellow, or Canary Yellow. The same color as the 911R prototype #4.
I put factory Bilstein RSR coil-over suspension under it and 993 TwinTurbo Brembo Big Brakes. Overall it’s pretty much 100% modified from stock. It’s a long list.
Looking great Jens!

nice that they did a lot of the assembly
Getting the bumpers, seals, lights etc to line up properly is an art, so I had the guys with experience do it. I’ll tackle the brakes, electrical, wiring, fuel system, engine/trans etc. I’m also under time crunch to get it on the road by next spring. Moving from Dallas to a fairly remote part of Colorado, so I need to get it running, sorted and professionally aligned before I go.
