I have restored allot of 8&9s and they almost always say their car is a real "ST".
Porsche still had 8&9" fenders in 74. When I asked about the hoods or bumpers she said "Your fiberglass is better than ours-so why pay the freight"....
About 20 cars...When we inquired about a special run of production cars they required 20 to be able to "put them in the system" ie.. Parts books, service manuals etc... I think they thought 20 made a good solid number for ordering parts and assembly. IMHO

One of the 1972 2.5l "Toad Hall" (Barth-Keyser) is owned by a female owner in Germany,
regular mechanics service are done in Switzerland, I saw the car often in flesh.

The red & white ST (car #22) , letsrollbabe posted, was indeed at the Targa Florio (1972 edition).
It was one of the Porsche Club Romand / GVEA entries. # 22 driven by Claude Haldi - Bernard Cheneviere ( along with #23 / Barth - Keyser , #31 / 'Gedehem' - Pochet).
B. Cheneviere did not have a chance to drive , as the car abandonned during the 2nd lap as Haldi was still in the 1st leg of driving duty.
Interestingly, one of these 2 drivers qualified it as the fastest of all the Porsches at this event , in front of alot of other makes & models also at 9th fastest qualifying time :

Looks to have had metal rear bumperettes & center panel
can't help but to bring this up again , over the last month i have been reading 908 the long distance runner :) 930-935 the turbo porsches :) and 904 - the truth and the rumors :( . now these books have no more or less info than is in this thread , and all but the 904 book are excellent well known books that most of us have . now the 904 book was a real disappointment can't believe it sold !! so there must be someone (starky?) to take on this subject and release a book;)
At the same time Olczyk's awful 904 book was released there was a German language 904 book done by Barth, Albinet and Weigel but it wasn't much better.
Attachment 95947
wow , yep the 904 book was a great subject not actioned properly so sad. one of the best i have read lately was 917 undercover story , great detail . i hope that Porsche And Me: Hans Mezger with Peter Morgan due next month lives up to expectation.
Hadn't heard of the Mezger book. I will look for it.
I also liked 917 Undercover Story. Peter Morgan's books on the 917 and on the 956 are good, too. I rate Norbert Singer's 24:16 right up at the top with Windgrove's.
Fere's original 911 Story and The Racing Porsches are wonderful for their technical detail. He was one of the greats, and actually drove some of the cars he wrote about.
I was reading through the Ginther ST article in Oct. 98 Excellence recently and took note of the statement (Bruce Anderson article) that a brochure printed in Jan 1970 offered the 'Sport Version' of the 911S and Bruce states:" When a 911S was ordered without code 470 package, it was built as a 911 S-T on the production line and sent to the competition department. There, customer's requests could be filled to equip their 911 S-T for specific racing requirements."
I can't remember if this '470 code delete' was discussed before in this thread, but it would seem to be a potential item on the 'cardex' that could be found in factory records, and help to identify a car that has been found to have ST modificatiions but are not 'Factory' or well documented cars. I know the cardex records are suspect and missing for many cars, but the '470 delete code' is just another interesting piece of ST history.
Does anyone have a factory document showing or listing '470 delete'?
Im sorry if this came up already, im new the the group/thread. I have to ask though, are all S/T's spoken for? Or are there a few out there or perhaps even one that is still in a barn or lost in a field somewhere.**Wishful thinking**
