Is there any way to blow the chart up bigger or make a clickable link? I am having a very hard time seeing it and want to update some of the new items on 359.
Thanks

Speaking of touching up photos (albeit getting off topic), here's a little more Photoshop work. The photo with luggage from the Stuttgart Auto Show brochure:
Attachment 344456
And, the photo with luggage from the October 1964 brochure:
Attachment 344458
Not only are the suitcases in the same position but contents of the trunk are the same. Even so, the car has grown rocker decos. It hasn't grown crests on its hubcaps. It looks like the same woman in a different outfit.
The hubcaps were used in the very first early 64 356Cs and SCs. They all all have the date date stamp on them which is 3/63. I am positive that there was only one run of them by Lemmerz and every hub cap made since has had a crest.
vent window appears not to have a latch??? Or is it a wind deflector?
There are 3 different calipers that were used in early 911s. The first one is a 356 caliper. It is ribbed on the inner and out half. The next one is ribbed on the outer half and smooth on the inner half. The 3rd on is smooth on both halves
The pictures are of the very first version on the left and the second version on the right. The 3rd version (not pictured) was used from 66 on.
txs Jim!! So which is the earliest one you reckon, the 'gold' or 'silver' one?
If you take another look at Jim's pictures you will see that the silver one has less / lower ribs on the second picture that he posted. So that is the later one.
BUT plating is another trivia item (to me at least). In chronological order it would make more sense if the 356 would have been silver, and the later one gold. But I also think that the 'silver' one on Jim's picture is actually faded 'gold'. In that case the question remains, were 356 calipers silver or gold finished and same question for the very early 911 (901).

eghhh, sorry guys, it is indeed obvious from Jims text. Cheers!
However, I agree with Richard and on top I would think extra cooling fins would have been added later for the 911 with the higher speed potential and weight vs the 356. Any thoughts on this?
Anyway, while we clarify this dear all,
pls check your calipers and let me know your type so we can find out when it changed (and possibly empirically check which one was older?).
Txs, Jacques
Sorry guys, I wasn't clear enough. The very 1st 911s got the 356C rear caliper with ribs on both caliper halves. Soon after, they changed to the caliper with ribs only on the outer half. One can only guess as to why that is. As to the plating, Neither of these calipers are "as original". The duller one is a msitake by my plater. All ATE calipers used on Porsches were plated with yellow zink. None were silver or clear. The plating fades very soon after use and leads many "experts" to determine that there were silver calipers. That is a myth.
Regards
Jim
Txs Jim. I have heard that the yellow zinc technique was only introduced to mankind after 1965, hence no part on a 1965 911 should be yellow zinc. What is your take on that for the calipers? Is the ATE caliper in yellow zinc from after 1965?
