Personal 'Gruppe buddy of mine Tony G had to take his more mild RGruppe ride since it has some modest ammenities like heat and a/c.... to keep the mrs. happy (who wouldn't..?? :) ) but it still has a pretty hefty 3.0L in it .... not quite as nasty as his 2.8 twinplug beast he left at home...a very beautifual ride...
Thats great stuff! As is the yearly ritual, the rest of us Midwest and East Coast RGruppe guys are wayyy jealous reading these posts while we deal with rain/snow/cold.
Great pictures! Thanks, John!
John,
Thank yous to you and Gloria, and Mr. and Mrs. B. for the party. You put alot of time and effort and it showed.
From Letty and I, THANKS!!!!!
I heard you drove thru a snowstorm coming home...photos??
Can't wait till next year.....
Ditto what Jack said. Some great cars that I need to get better aquainted with. :D You guys must have turned some heads this weekend.
Heres a photo you do not see very often.
It SNOWED at the lowest elevation in years in the Palm Springs area.
This is a photo following Roger G. on the way home
Fun time, glad we had such a big gruppe. I really enjoyed the warbirds museum and listening to John and Roger share some very cool warbird stories. The P-38 we watched was one recovered not long ago from a glacier. That plane must of felt at home Sunday with temps in the high 30s in Palm Springs.Quote:

Anyone else have an eventful drive home? I was thinking of John driving throught the blowing snow with no heater... The drive to PS took less than 2 hours, the drive home took over 3 hours due to the weather.
As for the drive home...what a weather change! We left Palm Springs at 8am in near flash flood conditions, some of the intersections had rushing streams 6+ inches deep. One of those was enough to soak a heater box which simply pumped dense steam right through the vents into the cabin. At the top of the I-10 pass and then down the 60 East it was snowing. On the 60 east there was slush on the freeway. When one of my front 275/40/17 tires would hit a 3 inch high ridge of slush funny things would happen. Like the steering wheel would spin half a turn, it was worse than hitting standing water.
So where can I get snow chains for my 335/40/17 rear tires? ;)
I can't wait till next year. :D
GREAT pics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually got a bit scared as the freezing rain turned to ice and covered the entire front windshield right before the rain turned to snow on I-10. at about 20 mph and slowing....with near whiteout (for me anyway...) conditions the only way I was able to see was to hold the palm of my glove covered hand on the windshield for a moment at a time and keep a tiny bit of heat (above freezing anyway...) and keep a porthole of sorts for bare minimum visability....
I kept looking for an offramp but none were to be found, I ended up rolling my windows down and looking around outside to see....the big rigs were kicking up all kinds of snow and plenty of it was getting into my car....this was pure hell!! I would have pulled over but visibility was so poor that I felt certian I would have gotten hit by the roadside.
scary stuff...... Gloria was all toasty in her T and I tried to follow her...but I could barely see her.
Then we must have started to decend altitude wise, as the snow subsided and turned back to rain....thank god I had a fresh coat of Rain-x on the windsheild ...... :o
