Hester

As you undoubtedly now know... that's a very special car and story to go with it. Thanks for sharing with us all.

As mentioned, Hester REALLY likes to be driven. After sitting a while, these cars feel better after you but several hundred miles on them. Probably a good idea to change the fluids and (just in case) be sure to check the oil level with the engine running and only fill to halfway between the marks (apologies if you already know this). Lots of info on this board.

You are in for a lot of great times, there isn't much more fun than driving an early 911 around and hangin' with these hooligans!

I drove Hester today. I took her out on the freeways for a nice long drive. The legend is, my professor used to get pulled over a lot. In fact, one time when we were out on one of our annual rides in the early nineties, we got pulled over by some unmarked, County investigator's car. I think the guy just wanted a closer look! Anyway, you guys know or can imagine, Hester is fast....

I forgot to mention that the color of hester is very special, have any of you guys seen a early 911 live in that color before? I see from elferhelfer.com that 70/71 was the only years for this color option. For 68/69 there was a dark red metalic option color.

You are now the custodian of a superb car, so have fun with her and enjoy the sports purpose mods. We all love to hear stories like this and are very interested in your progress with the car. When I was looking for my first car a couple of years ago, I was talking to a guy in the Midwest about a car I was looking at. He was talking about a trip a bunch of Midwest guys were taking to CA in their early 911s. That was the kind of group of like minded enthusiasts that I was hoping to get involved with. That was fryardds and I now consider him and all the Midwest guys my friends now as a result of me purchasing one of these cars. They were kind enough to welcome me into their group and I have now enjoyed several driving events with them. They are a great bunch of hooligans :D and I look forward to spending quality car time with them even though our gatherings are too few. This sort of camraderie is duplicated in many parts of the country, as these guys are all a great bunch (even though I have not met many of them in person). You will definitely find a whole host of longhood enthusiasts in your region. Have fun making new friends and learning more about these cars - they and their mods are addicting.;)

These sort of cars are not meant to be enjoyed alone. They have much more fun hanging in packs and driving fast on curvy roads. Now get out there and have some friggin' fun, dammit!:D

I ordered a new Halon fire extinguisher today. I guess Grady thinks I should save the one that is stamped "1969" so when I'm dead and they put Hester in a museum, she will have the original fire suppressant system!
