Rarest sport seat ever?

I have the same seats in my 1962 Twin Grille Roadster.

That is a 356 B/C (T6) GT seat which is basically a speedster seat but a little bit wider and covered differently. Why it was covered differently was always a mystery. On the GT seats the bottom cusion was a little longer and the top material continued over the back of the seat by about 3 inches...

All of the original aluminum GT seats had steel side panels riveted with round rivets like the one Warren Eads makes...

The seat frames on the 356 GT seats were all steel and were continued and were almost identical on the early 911.

I was told too that the early 911 seats (the recaro buckets speedster style) are wider than a stock Speedster seat. Wider as in the fit for your derriere.

The guy who told me this and who owned a set then is Thomas. Thomas started at AutosIntl and had his own Porsche upholstery shop after that.

Not all aluminum GT seats had the reinforcement, Ive seen both that were original. There seems to be a difference in the roundness of the top corners in original GT seats, some less round than others. Has anyone ever heard of Kleinn Rally seats? I saw a pair of 60's steel speedster seats from the aftermarket that had that name painted on the bottom. I REALLY WANT TO KNOW what the base looks like for 911 installation. Was this seat ever catalogued by Porsche? Perlon didnt appear until the 67 model.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is really the rarest Porsche seat.

It's called "Waldegaard" (!!) , and we find it mounted on a unmolested 356 Carrera2 in Freisinger's house.

It's typical for last 356 Carerras and very first racing 911.

I'll post the photos ....

I don't think so, but I'll look through my old negs when I get an hour or three! Will also try to post photos of my 912's seats. I have an autocross to go to on Sunday, so I can shoot them there. Meanwhile, look at Brett's book, still available from a certain Porsche bookseller in Colorado.

Perfect, Thomas, exactely as i said.

Some say it was a special request of "tall" mr Waldegaard, who hated the very uncomfortable "speedster like" seat for a rally driver.

It's very similar to a Ferrari seat.

I will meet Freisinger this weekend, and i'll recheck where it was made.
