Notes: "EBAY BUYERS: WE ARE SELLING THIS 1970 PORSCHE 911T. WE KNOW IT NEEDS ALOT OF WORK, HONESTLY, MORE BODY WORK THAN WE CAN DO. LET ME TELL YOU ALL WE KNOW ABOUT THIS CAR: IT HAS BEEN OUTSIDE IN IOWA, NOT MOVED, FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS. THE CAR DOES RUN, AND IT DOES DRIVE. THERE IS A BRAKELINE LEAK, AND AN OIL LEAK COMING FROM THE OIL HOSE TO THE OIL TANK. MAYBE A LITTLE TUNE UP WORK, AND ODDS AND ENDS HERE AND THERE, BUT WE DON'T KNOW SPECIFICALLY WHAT IT NEEDS TO MAKE IT DRIVE 100%. THE MOTOR IS GOOD, AND IT SHIFTS OUT FINE. THE BODY ISN'T IN BAD SHAPE, BUT IT ISN'T IN GOOD SHAPE. LOOK AT THE PICTURES, AND MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT. THIS CAR WOULD BE GOOD FOR PARTS, AND/OR RESTORATION. THE FLOOR BOARDS ARE RUSTY, THERE IS RUST SPOTS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR, THE INTERIOR ISN'T BAD, BUT THE SEATS HAVE SOME TEARS IN THEM."

Winning bid: US $9,501.50
Date sold: Jan-07-07
Notes: "EXTERIOR:
This car was purchased from the second owner who had the car since 1980. The exterior is a red and has four 15x6 "Deep Six" Fuchs original wheels with four brand new falken Ziex 205/60/15 tires with less than 5 miles on them. Since new, the car had undercoating throughout the interior and exterior metal panels to prevent rust. This undercoating is what has kept this car nearly rust free.
FLAWS: Normal dings here and there typical for a 34 year old car. Only natural occurring minor cosmetic rust exist on this car. This minor cosmetic rust is present beside the rear window edge of the car where it is in the form of bubbles and by the drivers side front fender below the gas gap(see pics). Another flaw is that the hood paint has some water stains (see pics) from the cause of having a cover on the car only a matter of days! Needless to say, I was furious of such stains occurring in a matter of days since this car was kept only indoors before I sold my previous home and was forced to keep the car outside with a cover for a matter of 7 days until I had engough space in my 1 car garage townhouse. They might be able to be removed by wetsand and buffing. Other than those exterior flaws, the car's paint looks great and was repainted red with a lacquer paint finish. No clear coat here. Targa roof top was also recently recovered.
INTERIOR: As you can see this interior is certainly not without its 34 years of flaws. Although the black carpet was recently replaced with another oem carpet, the original front brown leather seats are overdue for upholstery. Thre rear brown leather seats still look good.
The upper portion of the dash has several cracks from the florida sun, but the lower half with the leather grained face is still in nice original condition. The older stereo is no longer functioning and was disconnected. All instruments and gauges are fully functioning except for the clock.
MECHANICAL:
In 1972 the 911 got its engine stroked to get 2.4 liters producing output of 140hp at 5,600 rpm. Additionally, the compression was lowered to run on regular gas and the engine was fitted with a dry oil sump made of stainless steel. The 901 transmission was replaced; starting in 1972, with the stronger 915 transmission, and for the 911 Touring that meant receiving a 5 speed. Also, this car was later fitted with twin Weber 3 barrel carbs.
This car was checked at the local porsche mechanic shop and the engine came out very strong. A leak down test was performed and all cylinders came out great with no more than 8% leak down. Clutch was strong, transmission was strong, and engine drops only a few small amounts of oil which is normal for these cars. The car does have the heater hoses disconnected because of no need for them here in Florida. The only thing this car needs mechanically is to have the twin Weber carburetors adjusted by an experienced porsche mechanic.
Here is a list of new items recently replaced.

*Milage 63,495 (Great working odometer!) Not documented
This Porsche is among a very few left of the original "long hood" pre-74' 911's. Although Porsche produced many more examples of the T model vs. the S or E, none of the cars had galvanised bodies and Targas were especially prone to "rust away". This is due to the greater exposure to the elements with the tops off! Thus these are geeting more rare by the day. This Porsche has many desirable options for the T model such as the "S" body trim, the "Deep Six Fuchs" and the hounds tooth, or black/white, style seat inserts. This car also has a rare dash ducting system for the A/C.
I've owned the car for about three years and she is not my first nor my last 911. I'm a PCA member and have had the pleasure of owning a 1978 930, this car, an 86' 928 s4, various 944s and lots of other sports and unique european cars. This car is up for sale simply because I can't lock my children away and keep the scooters, bikes, skateboards etc. from mysteriously hovering way to close to the car in the garage for my comfort. When I purchased the car (long story involving cash and trade of a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster guitar that this guy had previously owned), it had sat in a wharehouse covered up for about six years. This was right after having been stripped down and repainted the current color of silver. The origional color apperars to have been red. When the car was prepped all the rubber window seals and all body seals were removed and replaced upon re-assembly. The previous owner told me the doors were replaced at this time as well. The paint quality is good. The one bad area that this guys body shop made worse is the deck lid. They tried to repair some typical rust in the bottom of the deck lid and bondoed out the license plate lights. The previous owner had never even driven it! He had it delivered to the paint shop and then delivered back to his warehouse where it sat amongst a collection of custom motorcycles until I bought it!
Like MOST Porsche owners I have used a great deal of care to get the car the best treatment when it came to repairs and maintance. To that end I didn't dare try to turn it over, rather I had a flat bed pick it up and deliver it to my trusted mechanic Rick Nobes at Autobahn Daytona. Once there we set about the process of checking it over throughly, replaceing fuel lines, rebuilding brake calipers, replacing tires etc. Once all was said and done (alot of new parts and money -more on that later-), it fired up and was off to Daytona International Speedway for the Porsche Rennsport Reunion in April of 2004.
I'll describe the car in detail by giving the pluses and minuses. We'll start with the minuses.
Minuses:
* Rear deck lid soft (bad repair of old rust) on bottom left side, no license plate lights
* Small rust bubble amount on left front fender at seam to body by windshield ( not broken through paint)
* Small rust bubble above left tail light, broken through just barley
* Syncros from first to second a little sketchy ( I have no problem driving the car, but I'm used to it)
* Interior needs carpet kit, dash top, rear trim piece at back of package shelf, general sprucing up!
* Driver door pocket (under arm rest) not installed, but I have :) passanger door pocket on, both in so-so condition
* Do not have second plastic door pockets (Speakers currently there)
* Leaks oil after sitting (like most older air cooled motors)
* Oil reserve tank is in good shape, drips a small amount of oil from there -slow- ( I haven't gotten around to checking the cause)
* Short shift kit for 901 gear box, I only say this as a minus because some (other owners of older 911s find the throw/ spacing to small)
* Early 90's Sony radio cassett
* No factory tool kit :(
* No winshield washer bottle (easy to get one and fix, hadn't got to it!)
* Shocks seem good, but I haven't replaced them
* Seal for Targa top at front is newer style (origional no longer produced) and had to be modified for fitment of top. No leaks!
Pluses:
* Origional 2.2 Motor and 901 Gear box
* Runs smooth and pulls stong
* Hydraulic chain tensioners installed 2/04
* Turbo valve covers (better cooling) installed 2/04
* Weber 40 IDA carbs rebuilt and with K&N Billet air boxes 2/04
* Full Burch headers and exhaust ( no heater boxes) A little more HP! installed 2/04
* New fuel lines / belts / plug wires 2/04
* Perma Tune Ignition box
* New clutch and most syncros in gear box (parts shortage and timing prevented the complete overhaul of gearbox) 5/06
* New OEM fuel pump 4/05
* New fuel tank and sending unit, seals etc. 12/05
* New upper and lower front suspension pan professionlly installed 12/05
* New chrome H4 headlamps (I have the origional ones, painted silver rings) 12/05
* New Targa Top ( complete head to toe rebuild by cars inc. in NJ, headliner, seals etc. This is a MAJOR Deal) 12/05
* Cross drilled rotors at all four corners, rebuilt calipers, new pads and stainless steel brake lines 2/04
* New falken directionals 205/50 15 about 3k miles on tires 2/04
* New hood badge 5/06
* New deck lid struts 5/06
* Full body strip and respray, all new seals Approx 1998
* Body is Straight
* "Deep Six" 6X15 Fuchs, including spare, could use refinishing but straight
* Body gaps are Excellent
* Origional Sales Brochure from 1971!!!!
* Origional Owners Manual
* All FOUR sets of origional seat belts, In Car"

Notes: "1969 911T Disassembled. 125000 +/- miles. Have all parts minus heads, pistons, gasket set, can get them for additional cost($3000+/-). Have Clear title. Body in very good shape.
2.4 L crankcase, (2 crankshafts,2.0 & 2.4). Webber carbs, Many new parts as well, cables, Bilstein shocks, floor panels, door sill, shop manuals.
This car was dismantled about 12 years ago for restoration, and has been sitting covered. You better look at $5 to $7 thousand for parts to finish, less if you spend lots of time looking more if you put in high performance parts. You will need new engine parts from the block up, jugs, pistons and heads ect. The front windshield is cracked all other glass is good. Body rust I found is on the front hood about the size of a dollar. It is not through. There is typical rust around battery boxes some welding required. It appears all old parts except those mentioned are here, but no guarantees. Need new carpet I have new master cylinder, brake lines, wheel bearing."

Notes: "UP FOR AUCTION (RELUCTANTLY) IS MY 1973 1/2 911 T TARGA WITH ORIGINAL CIS INJECTION. THIS CAR WAS RESCUED FROM A LOCAL OWNER WHO TOOK IT OUT OF HIS GARAGE ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND I CAUGHT IT IN TIME BEFORE ANY REAL DAMAGE WAS DONE. THE FLOORS ARE AS NEW AND ARE ORIGINAL. THE ONLY RUST ON THIS CAR IS ISOLATED TO THE INNER AND OUTER ROCKERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR AND THE FRONT FENDER AND WINGS. I HAVE ALREADY BEGUN THE DISSASSEMBLY AND HAVE EVERY NUT AND SCREW AS WELL AS EVERY PART TAKEN OFF. THE INTERIOR NEEDS A CARPET KIT BUT THE TARGA TOP AND DASH ARE SUPER GOOD. THE DASH HAS A 1 INCH CRACK BY THE TOP OF THE SPEAKER AND CAN BE EASILY REPAIRED OR HIDDEN. AS YOU KNOW THESE DASH TOPS ARE HARDLY EVER SEEN IN THIS CONDITION AND SELL FOR CRAZY MONEY IF FOUND. ALL GUAGES ARE INTACT AND ARE OPERATIONAL. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ALL THERE AND THE MOTOR TURNS OVER WITH A BATTERY BUT THERE ARE A NUMBER OF SMALL FUEL LEAKS IN THE RUBBER LINES IN THE MOTOR COMPARTMENT. THE CIS HEAD WAS FROZEN SHUT DUE TO BAD OLD FUEL AND WAS FREED UP BUT MIGHT NEED REPLACEMENT. COMPRESSION IS GOOD IN ALL CYLINDERS AND THE TRANS CHECKS OUT AS WELL. THE MOTOR HAS NEW HEATER BOXE$$$$ AND THE MOTOR HAS THE UPDATED CARRERA CHAIN TENSIONERS AS WELL AS TURBO CAM COVERS WHICH ALLOW THE MOTOR TO RUN COOLER. (SOMEONE WAS THINKING). THE OIL TANK IS IN GREAT CONDITION. SUSPENSION IS IN TACT AND THE WHEELS ARE ORIGINAL 15X6 FUCHS ALLOYS WITH TIRES THAT LOOK NEW BUT MIGHT BE DRY. ALL GLASS IS GOOD AS WELL AS TRIM. IT HAS THE S TRIM AND IT CAN BE REUSED IF THE CAR IS RESTORED...IT IS THAT CLEAN. THE DRIVERS FRONT FENDER IS NOT THERE BECAUSE I REMOVED IT AND IT WAS TOO POOR CONDITION TO BE REUSED. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A RELATIVELY SIMPLE RESTORATION PROJECT BECAUSE THE CAR IS SUPER SOLID AND MOSTLY RUST FREE. THE BATTERY BOXES ARE PERFECT AS WELL AS THE FRONT PAN, FLOORS, LONGATUDINALS AND TORSION AREAS. THE DOORS AND SHEET METAL ARE BOTH EASILY RESORABLE AND THE ROCKERS ARE THE ONLY RUST REPAIR THAT WILL BE NEEDED THAT FALL INTO THE MORE THAN SUPERFICIAL CATAGORY. THIS CAR COMES WITH A BILL OF SALE ONLY WHICH WILL BE SUFFICIENT TO OBTAIN TITLE. THE RECENT INTEREST IN THE F BODIED CARS ( 1969-1973 ) WITH THE 73 1/2 BEING THE MOST DESIREABLE MAKES THIS CAR A VERY SOUND INVESTMENT AND WORTHY OF A NICE RESTORATION. THE COLOR IS UNIQUE AND THE FACT THAT IT'S A TARGA MAKES IT ONE OF 1200 CARS PRODUCED, AROUND THE SAME NUMBER OF RS CARRERA'S WHICH NOW SELL FOR OVER $200,000.00. i HAVE SEEN 73 1/2 T's SELL FOR $25,000 TO $35,000.00 IN NICELY RESTORED CONDITION AND SO FOR THE RESERVE I HAVE ON THIS CAR THERE WILL BE AMPLE ROOM TO RESTORE IT AND STILL HAVE MUCH LESS INTO THE CAR THAN IT WILL BE WORTH. I AM INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AS EXTRAS:
1. PARTIAL ORIGINAL TOOL KIT WITH SOME ORIGINAL TOOLS.
2. NEW WINDSHIELD RUBBER
3. NEW HELLA HORN KIT.
4. NEW MOTOR COMPARTMENT INSULATION PAD"

It has all the parts in boxes inside the trunk and inside. The rear right back Quarter panel has been cut out due to body damage. The body damage is on the right side of the car. The back glass has been broken out and will need replacing. The car is Solid and could be made into a RS Clone Project? The car is complete with the original 2.2L engine. The engine turns and looks ok. This car need complete restoration. Every aspect of this car needs to be addressed. The Floor Pans are surprisingly solid. The Paint is original but is that Sepia Brown real popular back in the 70's but not my favorite. These early Porsche are going back to Europe and being restored at an alarming rate and soon there will be no more to find here in the states. The car rolls but no brakes and the engine turns. The car comes with a Clean Texas Title."
