Those were some old (3-4 years) Hoosier R3S03s in 245F and 275R I was trying to use up at the DE, on 8 & 9 x 16" Fuchs. Have to use a 1/4" spacer in the rear to clear the spring plate bolts and the Phase9 mufflers, and the sidewall still rubs a little at full flex on the inside. I got down to a 2:16 at Thunderhill on my first visit with those old hard tires, once the track warmed up in the afternoon and I had run 4 sessions to learn the line and got a little more aggressive, and I was happy with that. The car would have done a 2:12 with fresh rubber and a little more abandon, I think, but it had rained for several days before the event and we had been warned of mud bogs at the driver's meeting that might require a tow if we went off the track, so I was playing it conservative.Quote:

Here's a pic Long Mike took of that setup at Spring Mountain Raceway last year. I somehow pulled a 1:50 out of my butt on my last timed lap there with those tires, after running 1:53s all weekend on 245/265 Kumhos, and surprised a few folks (including myself) with a 4th place overall, behind some very serious race cars. :D

Here's my 1972 E Targa, Gulf Blue and Not ONE spec of rust but evidence of prior accident to right rear - bummer. 80,xxx original miles.
There were 861 E targas made in 1972 - this is number 800. Kinda rare? Bah, it's fun to drive and I'm not a targa dude. It's headed for restoration once I am employed again :p
For some reason this car gets tons of comments, more so than my 3.6 72t - and I do not understand it at all - I find it rather odd - any opinions on this?
I think maybe it's cuz of the color and targa thing, I dunno, it's all good...

Gulf Blue - it sure looks good on that Targa.
My Plymouth Valient was a light blue with a white top - and The ladies loved it.
Tom - That's what I like to hear about - a SWB that looks like that AND KICKS ASS !!!
John
I'm curious to know what the color number/code of that light blue car is.
TT, that's serious rubber. Looks like you bring some driver's skill to the dance as well. Congrats! :cool:Quote:

My targa is really growing on me, I swear when I was driving it I would get at minimum one comment per day. Wierd.
This one old lady with her walker made her way from half a block away to tell me that she really liked the color... yeah she was 90 years old but she really liked it.
The recaros in it are from my 72 3.6 and are blue but the original seats were tan and cord/clothe.
I'll restore it back to a new tan interior with some special combo on the seats, not sure what yet.
Oh! Anyone else think that the 72 E cars run great and are loads of fun? :D

That pic off I-90 with the mtns in the background is a knock out. Love the wheels. Did you do a full polish?
