my 1965 fenders have it as well. They are 1965 fenders for sure as they are meant for the 4 screw horn grills. I do not know the exact month of these fenders though, were not original to the car.
revival of the thread. I met some nice people in Essen today who might want to add something to all this. With this thread it becomes easy to judge the cars on offer. We were standing next to an alleged 1964 car (300138 for 660k€), but it seemed to have been rebuilt with stuff they carefully selected from each month in 1965, including the whole front side (except for the VIN).

same with the white 64 in the "tent"this car just got a new paint job..i talked to the owner quite a while and he at least was very thankfull to hear about all the incorrect details he did not know and now tryes to get them fixed..he asked me what i would do with this car and honest as i am the answer was ...start all over again.(the owner of the first car in question actually did not ask for a honest opinion(i dont bash unasked-which in fact would not have been bashing but more like facing the truth......and i usually get paid for this service) but he was not so amused seeing people discussing his car i heared later on in the hotel

nope, did not see it. Saw also 300728 (480k€, French dealer) and 301281 (275k€, official Porsche dealer, no matching numbers). Both with some stupid and obvious mistakes.
While I was discussing the 728 with the dealer to find at least some original details, 2 other visitors pointed at the aftermarket front bumperettes with the wrong plastic backsides and called it the cheapest of the cheapest. The French dealer tried to not understand.
Nevertheless, except for the price, it was a more honest car than the Porsche dealer car I checked. Wrong dash top, wrong dash wood finish, wrong trunk lock, repro lights all around, wrong ignition bezel, wrong windscreen wiper arms, wrong steering wheel, wrong vinyl, wrong wheels, wrong shift knob, wrong exhaust tip, wrong convex door handles, no inner lubricated camshafts. Now the latter I can understand to some point (although from an official Porsche dealer....), but the rest is soooo easy to do better.....
