OK...you guys, I can't help but post a couple of pics of the most famous Martini RSR Recreation accomplished by Mike Moore with the help of Neil Bainbridge in the UK. The Martini logo and paint scheme is probably the most famous Porsche factory sponsor of the 70s, and will always be one that will make guys stop and look at any 911 with this look on its flanks. Harvey, I always look and admire your car at Treffen...I love the look!

Here are some pics of the original car as 107 at the 73 Targa, as a factory car #3 used for marketing in 73, and as a factory/Strahle prototype in June of 72. The car was known as the 'Mongrel' because it began life as a factory 72 ST, and was used in prototype development for the 73 RSR program with many iterations of bodywork and engines. The rear flares were always a very distinguishing feature, no doubt hand made for 11x15 Fuchs.Quote:

A long time ago I spoke to a fellow back home(in Sweden)who worked on Porsches during "the good old days"...He mentioned that in the beginning when they needed 911 rear flares of any significance...they started "massaging" rear fenders for VW bugs (turned around and switched sides)..i.e left rears became right rear flares on the 911...not sure how common or actually true that statement is, but the "Targa 107" and the old 1965 (ex Bengt Ekberg)rally car have very distinct round/cupped look to them...I like the look, but then again...I'm a sucker for flares on these cars anyway.../Lars...
