Item 3 is described as a 'clamp' (part no. E 692.107.363.00 whereas item 9 is described as a 'retainer' (part no. E 692.107.357.00).
Incidentally the lines are listed as 14.7mm diameter.

356 Carrera 2 clamp
Thank you for closing the loop on the Carrera 2 clamp with the correct part number as well as current sources for the clamp.
A big thanks goes to Rolly, Joris and Andy as well for sharing their 356 knowledge and putting to rest another mystery of Werks construction techniques employed for Gr 4 and rally preparation of the 911S.
The Carrera 2 lineage of the clamp is just the sort of detail that fascinates me. The shared resources of the board provide a forum for discovery unlike any other.

Ventilation System
But there is no mystery for this next area of attention.
We put together a complete Behr fresh air ventilation system. A few of the parts of the original system on #694 were missing tabs and/or were cracked.
I like the look of a nice ventilation system on a Werks built race car and recall being impressed by the one on a concours prepped 2,8 RSR done at AAOC a few years ago.
To source original items like these it helps to have an active race shop doing the work as these bits are surplus for many of the other customers!
We put together a complete system of good pieces. It will now be disassembled and detailed while the hardware is re-plated to brighten things up.
Occasionally one sees the fiberboard partition installed on an ST. However, the Werks deleted the partition on the cars built by the Race Department. Deleting the fiberboard partition is the logical alternative as its main purpose is to hold up the carpeting in the luggage compartment. The Werks also deleted the fiberboard partition but left the ventilation system intact on the later '73 Carrera RS lightweight and 2,8L RSR .
Note that the unpainted bolts on the cowl brace and elsewhere should be satin yellow cad - not finished in silver cad as shown in the image.

Highland Swagger
Like most of the members on the Registry message board, we believe that a pair of fine period sport seats in a long hood 911 makes a powerful statement. Like many others, I too coveted the exciting performance oriented seats offered by Recaro and Scheel during the era of the ST and spent many an hour gazing at their catalogs.
But like a tight fisted New Englander, I admit to having wondered in those days just how such seats could possibly be worth $139 to $169 each!
Fast forward to 2006…
Having found many race parts for the project, we set out to find a pair of period seats in keeping with the “parts original” theme of the car and which complemented all the other old race bits hung on the hot rod.
Earlier posts in this thread discussed how the Werks would sometimes install mis-matched pairs of seats in the ST, depending on the personal preferences of drivers and co-drivers. In addition to the models of the seats to be installed, one could also specify the choice of upholstery: perforated or smooth vinyl for the bolsters while for the inlays basket weave vinyl, corduroy or perhaps something a bit more special: tartan plaid!
Porsche offered tartan plaids made from high quality, auto upholstery weight, pure wool. Lore has it that these patterns were made available from Porsche and Recaro for rennsitze by special order during the era of the ST.
Members of the Porsche family as well as drivers regarded as “friends of the factory” by the Race Department became well known for their fondness for tartan upholstery.
In later years, for example, Peter Gregg, IMSA champ famous for meticulous race preparation and owner of Brumos Porsche in Jacksonville, specified that the factory trimmer cover the Recaro lollipop race seat in his 935 with Werks blue/green tartan.
To me this upholstery treatment communicates a brash highland swagger and devil-may-care attitude; just perfect for a hot rod!
Others had gone before Gregg in fitting tartan plaid seats in cars prepped by the Race Department and shared his taste for the warp and weft of tartan plaid. The sett of the tartan favored by Gregg would be considered a “hunting tartan” with its dark blue and green hues. The plaid resembles Black Watch.
WERKS
When the Werks built a certain light weight, narrow bodied 911S in MY 1972 for factory testing, it chose a pair of Recaro rennsitze with black bolsters and…blue/green tartan inlays. This lightweight S suffered heavy damage in the early 1970s and over the years some of its special parts were sold off. This Werks built car, chassis number 911 230 0637, had been fitted with interesting rennsitze.
DRIVER SEAT
For the driver, the Werks supplied a Recaro seat of the type normally associated with the 914-6 GT race cars. It resembles a slightly scaled down ST race seat with its bottom cut out to accommodate a webbed suspension system of rubber straps beneath its seat pad. It had provision for a headrest and came with the peanut style Recaro in grained leatherette to match the seat’s bolsters.
CO-DRIVER SEAT
A Recaro Rally seat was fitted for the co-driver. However, unlike the driver seat, no fittings were provided for a headrest. Its bolsters are grained leatherette to match the driver seat.
SOURCE
This pair of Werks seats came from Edmond-Harris Racing Porsche in Oxfordshire, England. While the oem grained leatherette bolsters remain intact, E-H had the original tartan inlays re-upholstered with new old stock factory blue/green tartan wool. The trimmer affixed the metal Recaro tags for added visual interest and re-webbed the driver seat cushion.
The bottom of the driver’s seat bears a small white adhesive tag with the number 129, written in a graceful Teutonic hand characteristic of Frau Braun. The co-driver seat has no such tag in evidence.
RENNSITZE and HIGHLAND SWAGGER
Scheel GT runners, favorites of the Race Department during the era of the ST, will be fitted on lightweight X bars to mount these rennsitze. The hot rod has a taste for tartan.
