I looked at this car the other day and noticed something interesting when I saw the aluminum VIN plate.

Have you seen this style of plate lately, say on a questionable yellow RS?

My thought is this style of plate was an early replacement version (K.G.) for those that needed a new plate because the type is not embossed but instead is a blank box so it can be stamped in like the VIN and it's not from 1978.
Mixed results yesterday....(prices include buyer's premium):
lot 24 356 Speedster USD 345.000
lot 25 356 GTL Abarth Unsold
lot 26 904 Prototype USD 565.000
lot 27 911 R Unsold
Lot 28 911 S/T Unsold
Lot 29 911 RS 1972 Prototype USD 334.000
Lot 30 964 Carrera cup USD 99.875
lot 31 993 Turbo S USD 141.000
I'm surprised for the 911R, bidding stop at USD 460.000 but no one was really interesed at this level. :(
Does it mean it's a smaller community of Porsche collectors than we thought? or the model is not that desirable?
Hello Platas,
Thanks for your email, I tried to reply but your inbox is full!
I do work for Christie's but not in the car the department (I specialize in modern pictures). You should contact Philippe Kantor at:
