I am the owner of the kremer st 9112300444
my car has correct PTH and the car has been checked many times at le mans classic, tour auto, CER races...
It has been approved with Group 4 brakes as mentioned by stretch
in french for vjim: la voiture a été homologée avec les freins groupe 4 sans problème - je ne comprends pas pourquoi vous ne pourriez pas obtenir l'homologation alors que cette possibilité est clairement mentionnée par les documents de la FIA

Does anyone know if 917 brakes were used on ST's on or prior to 1972? The FIA document posted by Stretch on this thread relates to RSR brakes in 73 and after for Group4 ...but am curious to know if 917 brakes were used prior to 1973 and before the RSR brakes were available?

Appreciate all the great photographs.

I would like to replicate the 72ST oil filter/overflow configuration on my 72T wide body.

From the photographs the 72ST setup would 'appear' to be much simpler than the 'spaghetti junction' of pipes/valves associated with the earlier (pre 71) ST's…..is there actually any difference between the oil circuit on 72T (road car) vs the 72 ST?

Next dumb question:

In addition to my question regarding the oil system at the working end of the 72ST (above), moving on to the front of the car:

Would a 'factory delivered' 72ST typically be delivered with 2x front fender oil coolers (c/w internal x-over pipes) as a 'factory option' or was this a racing modification implemented by the various teams in the day?

Given that you could purchase a LH cooler from the factory (see Fleiger, Olive ST thread) we have assumed, without 100% certainty, that cars were fitted with both at the factory.

If not we just copied a race team mod:D

I'm fitting a 100L fuel tank on my Mongrel project and pondering on whether to go centre or side fill?

I've noticed that many early race cars have the fuel filler flap in tact whilst others don't .....I think it could be that flap or not depended on whether the wing was changed to fibreglass or just arches grafted on?

I guess some may have also welded up the filler flap when fitting arches, some not?

I noticed the Kremer car 9112300444, has a flap in the period photos but none when rebuilt.

I've seen a photo somewhere of a blanking plate under the hood where the filler neck would be........my car is staying narrow bodied and my current thinking is centre fill (under the hood), blanking plate and keep the flap!

I can do what I like with my project, it's just an old dog, but would appreciate opinions?

No expert and don't know what's correct or not, but seems like having to open the hood every time you want to fill up would be a PIA. Especially as thirsty as they cas are. I imagine that is why they went away from it with the 356 cars.
