. . . Funeral Services for Joseph John Travale, 79, will be held at noon Friday,
October 29, 2004, at Annunciation Cathedral in Stockton. Longtime friend,
Father Larry McGovern, will officiate at a Mass of Christian Burial.
Travale, who was the patriarch of the Travale family, died Thursday, October
21, 2004, in his Sparks, Nevada home with his wife of 32 years, Jean, at his
side . . .
. . . Visitation at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., will be from
11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, and from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on
Thursday. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, following the
visitation . . .
. . . Best known to the Stockton community as the co-founder of the Stockton
Asparagus Festival, Travale was the former executive director of the Stockton
Convention and Visitors Bureau of San Joaquin County. Active in a variety of
aspects in the community, he came to Stockton in 1973 from Southern California
and opened the Porsche-Audi car dealership at El Dorado and Park.
He served as leader of the Stockton New Car Dealers Association. Always someone
looking at the big picture for the community, Travale pushed for the
development of an Auto Center long before it actually occurred in Stockton. In
a losing effort, Travale wanted the center to be located on the west side of
Interstate 5 at Hammer Lane long before development occurred at that location.
He sold the dealership in 1980 to enter other business enterprises before being
chosen in 1983 to head the Convention and Visitors Bureau where he served until
retiring in 1990. Under his leadership, with the assistance of the Bureau
Board, the Asparagus Festival grew to be the major fund raiser for service
organizations in the county . . .
. . . Travale was a member of the downtown Stockton Rotary Club, the Serra Club and
St. Mary's Boosters. Born August 3, 1925, in Buffalo, N.Y., Travale served in
the U.S. Air Corps during World War II from 1943 to 1946 as an Engineer-Gunner
on a B-25 Bomber over the North Atlantic. After the war, Travale joined his
parents and brothers and sisters in the city of Glendale in Southern
California. He became the Regional Vice President of Morris Plan, a Financial
Loan Agency, serving the firm out of Pasadena for 20 years before retiring to
enter the Real Estate business and other business enterprises. While in
Pasadena, he was an active committee member of the annual New Year's Day
Tournament of Roses Parade . . .
. . . After moving to Sparks, Nevada, Travale continued his community activities as a
leader of S.C.O.R.E., a business development program, and the Serra Club of
Reno . . .

This one looks to've been wire-brushed/tidied-up/sterilized in some-fashion-or-t'other, so . . . no original paint/finishes left to speak of, but --- going from the pics referenced above . . . may've been white lettering in dark-grey/black letter boxes. Anyway, no makers' names or other ID, plate = std CA etc, etc

Here's one I picked up recently. Rick, I know you've posted a picture of another "mechanicsburg, PA" dealership frame. This one is different but more than likely the same dealer.

as a S.F. Peninsula native I do not believe this frame was made during the Porsche era @ Rector. the dealer was originally Cadillac and Olds.
IIRC, the side street is still called Cadillac Way.
