I think I've almost got the interior the way I like it. Other than the absolutely awful door cards that came from pelican, everything is settling in nicely. I got the new prototipo today to replace the tiny one. That was a bear to get a hold of too.... thinking of dying the steering wheel stitching black.

Going to the track next Thursday so time to change to my track tires and wheels... same size wheels and type/size tires as my street set but a little more meat.....;)
BTW- I bought this second set of 7's and 8's from our own Frank Beck and lovely wife at the Pomona Swap 17 years ago for $600..... I remember the Beck's had their adorable little daughter in a little playpen by the wheels..I wish I took a picture...:)
While you have the wheels off it's always a good time to check, tighten, generally smoke over, and clean the four corners....
For the last few months I've been running a 911R exhaust on my car ... a few weeks ago I was issued a "Fix It" ticket by one of the local Johnny Laws. So, I installed a new set of headers, S pipes, and Dansk sport muffler to quiet it down, and I will change that to a stock single out Bischoff after next week's track day.
After driving the car home I was disappointed in the way it was running, so I decided to rebuild the top end today ...
Just kidding! :D
But I did do a major service (valve adjustment and oil change) and went over the carburetors to touch them up a bit. I'm still not totally stoked about the performance so next week I'm going to dyno the car and see if I an really dial it in. I've changed a lot since my last visit to the dyno - new distributor, new jetting, new Venturis - so I'm sure a tuning day is in order. I'm hoping for 180hp at the wheels at about 6500 RPM and 180ish ft/lb of torque at around 5500. Based on the last dyno run I did I think the motor is capable. But I'll be glad when my 3.0L is done...
Today I found all the misplaced paperwork from my 72. The 72S was transformed into a RS replica in 1994 by Jim Stephenson of Rhode Island. After he had tracked the car in its original configuration, it looks like he blew the engine and was towed home from the track $484 tow charge.
He put in an 89 3.2 with 21k miles on it. It looks like a rebuilt 75 trans was used along with lt weight flywheel and sport clutch. The engine was kept stock with the exception of headers, sport exhaust, chip etc. 22/29 torsion bars, Bilstein sport shocks all around etc. $22k in receipts in 1994 for this work.
One of my good friends bought the car in 1999 from Stephenson and proceeded to tear it apart and sent the chassis and body to Stoddard for the little rust repair it needed, plus a complete repaint in original silver to factory standards. In addition all new seals, rubbers, etc. Stoddard put on the ducktail, front and rear bumpers etc. The floors were solid and the rust was minimal mainly in the rockers IIRC.
I bought the car in 2006 or so, added sport seats and just drove it. We just completed a front to rear service, replacing all oil lines, cleaning up the front compartment, removed the roll bar , and just took care of a few niggling issues...oil pressure and oil level senders etc. It should be all back together next week.
Can't wait to drive it again.
