That car was indeed parked among the other entrants in Grand Palais, but I couldn't help noticing a lovely French insurance sticker on the windshield containing the VIN...

A quick google of 305947 came up with this: http://www.pbase.com/911r/guestbook
Quoted text from above pbase.com link for future reference:
So I assume it is FAKE... But there's an early '67S hiding under there! ;)Quote:

Hello Ernie,
I’m a fan of your amazing knowledge about the 911 R and I’m always delighted with all the photos that you’ve put on line.
I’m currently trying to build an R clone using my 911S 1967 (VIN 305947 , very close to R1)
One difficult part is the electrical circuit (complete wire harness) which is different from the normal 911S.
Would you accept to send me the drawings( pic) of this R wire harness that is on line (Pbase) but that I cannot print or copy
I Thank you in advance
Best regards
Jean-Dominique
The car is listed in the Tour Auto's entry list as a 1967 911S running in Regularity, not in Competition.
Well done Stevie !
..Yes, it looks pretty clear that this is NOT a R, but another "R tribute car". True: a very nice 911S.
And also yes, between R1 and R2, ..but closer to R1 :)
PS : I noted that you are 300km North of the Ring, so, I was "close" to you about 3 weeks ago :

(And even closer, as the day "after", we spent a day at Spa, which is IMO the best track of the World.
I should add, ..that I do NOT like the "Ring" at all !!)
The Revs Institute added the tape during the last refurbishment. I'm sure it was on the original. Interesting.

Long time no post here !!!
So a quiet place here.
From the Valescure (a great golf, in France, near Cannes) concours d'élégance, this year (August), one R got a price.
Yes, we can recognize Mr. Gérard Larrousse, but, any idea which R this could be ???
And thanks to the post of 928CS, I can now add : (great) Photos copyright Pierre Vieuille.

It looks that this could be his own car !
1968, 118 990 16R, Ronde Cevenole, Gerard Larrousse.
Thanks a lot Ernie,
I did not had this photo.
Now, about this photo, the only tiny doubt I have : it should be the Ronde Cévenole of 1969, when the n°71 was car of Mr. Xavier Camprubi, driven by Mr. Gérard Larrousse.
..but, this is a very little detail !
Thanks a lot again, ..and great to know that you still have a good eye here ! :)
And, ..for the pleasure of the old photos, another one of the same car (#016), with his owner at the helm, Mr. Xavier Camprubi.
This is the hill climb of Saint Antonin (France, North of Toulouse), probably in 1968. Copyright René Bougros.

According to this website, http://galerie-de-pierre.over-blog.c...-55848136.html , this is indeed #16.
I don't know if the car belongs to Mr Larousse, but he will have a brand new 991R.
Thanks a lot 928cs, thanks to your post, I was able to add the copyright (Pierre Vieuille) of these great photos of the Valescure Concours on my original post.
