NO AFFILIATION: I inspected this car yesterday — it’s in my neighborhood and I am looking for an early 911. The car is a collector’s dream — the owner has all the receipts from the beginning in a 3-ring binder and no stone was left unturned with this car — if it needed it, it was done. The fog lamps are new old stock, and any work that needed to be done was either done locally by the best Porsche mechanic in the NY area (IMO) or sourced throughout the country (steering wheel done in the south for example — seats done by another local expert.) The car drives perfectly. Owner has even filled out the tool kit so nothing is missing. As far as price, yes, it is all the money for a T, but as has been said, in a few years it will be seen as a deal. If you are looking to buy a car that will maximize any appreciation in the 911T market, this would be it.

A "jump" or "skip title" is a royal PITA and to be avoided. A dealer here can get seriously fined and or lose their license for using one to avoid process fees etc.. Clean and clear in the name of the current owner is all I'll take. You wouldn't want the last owner to come looking for you because the vehicle you are titling was acquired through nefarious means. Divorces also create some pretty interesting scenarios. How about a wife signing off when it wasn't hers to sell?
The reason you can't get "paper" from the title services anymore is because the government has seriously cracked down on these activities since 9/11. Many of the shops that used to provide an Alabama Title or such have dried up. In other words don't believe for one minute that it is easy to get a title if you don't have one. A bill of sale works in some states provided the vehicle is of a certain vintage but you need to know the rules which can be found at your DMV website. It is different for every state.
I agree with Serge, if someone can't produce a title for you or has a title in someone else's name not worth buying problems.
