Question re hinges. Did any of the cars use aluminum trunk and deck hinges?
anybody?? Looking for any ST experts to chime in
Both factory ST parts books, the April 1970 and November 1971 list part numbers for the hinges, no mention is made as to aluminum, but the way the parts books are set up they only list the parts that are unique for the ST model, and the rest of the parts come from the series parts books. This tells me that the hinges listed are different from the series cars. Series cars use a left and right hinge, both front and rear. The ST books list two front and two rear for each part number, so no left and right on the ST. I checked the 911R parts book, and the ST part numbers do not match the 911R part numbers, its known that the R used aluminum front hinges. My guess... Aluminum...

Ernie, would those not be the GHE rubber latches that you mention. ?

Thanks Dave, I think your right... I just saw the word bonnet holder front and rear and was thinking hinge... sorry for the confusion
No apology required. I forget this stuff myself all the time.:) Merry xmas to you and your good wife Ernie. See you next year.

Thanks for digging! So the 911R had front aluminum as the rear was the simple outside hinge. I'm wondering what the 132 Larousse Historika car used to get down to 1800lbs
That car had a strange external hinge arrangment, but was not an ST homologated car. Group 5 prototype from memory.
