Does anyone know when the 901/02 cases switched from aluminium to magnesium?
Many thanks Allen. Am I reading your notes correctly where it says the last aluminium engines were produced around June 9th 1968? My project was originally built in May 68 but its original engine (sadly no longer with the car) was 408 098x. I have documentary evidence (not from the factory) to suggest that it had an aluminium engine but that would be contradicted by the 408 0681 serial number for the switch to magnesium. I guess the 408 0681 engine number doesn't quite tally with the June 9th date?
A little late to this thread....but I have 909555 5964 901/05 in my Light Yellow ST. It is now a 2.7L engine with 40 Webers.
Thanks for the clarification. All seems to point to mag. My documentary evidence may be wrong! Thanks for your help.
